Visited the Genius Bar, they told me that Apple HQ had told them that for all MacBook models this sound is "normal". I handed the laptop to the representative and he instantly remarked "oh wow, that doesn't feel right at all".

Before figuring out the exchange / repair logistics I quickly ran downstairs to test out the display models, and to my surprise *all* of the demo models had the same piece of plastic sliding around inside their display. It's very jarring.

Will be returning my MBP 2016 tomorrow for a full refund... I was already having doubts with the build quality (that reflective Apple logo feels cheap) and the heat of the machine (this machine runs hot, noticeably so through the keyboard) so this was the last straw. Windows, here I come.
I noticed this rattling noise when laptop is tilted on my 12" retina MacBook 2016 after Apple replaced the screen due to other issues.there was no such noise prior to screen replacement.going to take it back to them.if they wouldn't sort the issue,I will sell it.

Update : Apple replaced the screen again, they also replaced the whole logic board with 512GB SSD attached to it.
and they couldn't fix the problem.
the rattling is still there.
it is definitely from the screen, if you hold the screen with your fingers, it won't happen.so something is loose there.
I'm going to take it back one more time, if they couldn't fix it,as much as I love Mac OS,I will move back to Windows.there are some amazing Windows machines out there and none suffer from such primitive and un-acceptable flaws.

Update 2:
after replacing the display (twice) & replacing the logic board, the rattling and noise is still there.
Apple told me this time that they cannot do anything about it and that it's "within the specs" and normal.(so why they changed display and logic board if it's normal and why it only happens to some new Macbook Pros and 12" MacBooks?)
I asked if there is anyway of knowing which new MBP / 12" MB has the issue and they had no idea.

we tried 2 2017 MBP without touchbar and 1 2017 12" MB at store and I couldn't hear any rattle, altho the technician told me 3 12" models they have inside for repair do make the rattling noise.

since there is no solution and because Apple simply no longer have a good quality, problem-free laptop I've decided to sell the flawed MB and considering switching back to Windows after 10 years of Mac.

there are some really interesting Windows machines out there : Huawei Matebook X,new Dell XPS 13,Surface Pro and Galaxy Book.all high quality machines within same price range and without such ridiculous flaws.

I tested two 12 inch 2017 MB, and there I didn't hear the rattle. Why don't you give a chance to the 2017 modells?

because the 2017 models are apparently also affected.
it's hit and miss, some more some less and some don't make noise at first then make it later based on my research.
see this thread :

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/dear-2017-mbp-owners-–-do-you-have-that-rattle.2052250/

also I'm now passed my return deadline,so I have to sell it now at a loss, and paying extra for 2017 model which will likely have the same problem is just not encouraging at all.

I'm noticing a sound with my late 2016 recently, when I quickly tilt it to the left. It wasn't there until recently. It seems to be coming from the left side of machine. It sounds sort of like if you took a deck of cards and hit them on their edge on a table. It sounds like it's definitely a heavy enough object with a lot of edge length hitting another large surfaced object, if that makes sense.
