OK, so can someone clarify this?

I have 2 iPhones and 2 computers, both with the SAME iTunes login. Can I buy for example Monkey Ball on computer 1, and install it on iPhone 1, and then just get Monkey Ball from computer 2 onto iPhone 2 without buying it twice?

Yes, this is what I am doing and it works fine.

Yes, you can have same paid app on two iPhones

I have a 3G iPhone with latest update (2.2) as of January 3, 2009. I've been buying some apps on my iPhone. However, my daughter, who has the other iPhone in our account, also wanted one of the apps I just bought. So I went to her computer and logged in my account at the iTunes Store. When I clicked on the app to purchase it, a message came up that said I've already purchased the app and would I want to download it for free. So I clicked yes and I got it free for the other iPhone. The same happened for other apps that I've purchased previously. However, there was one dictionary app that I had purchased on sale and it wouldn't let me download it for free. I had to pay for it again.

So there, you can purchase and download for your first iPhone on the computer it's synced to. Then go to another computer, which the second iPhone is synced to, and download it for free for your second iPhone, using your same iTunes Store account.

It is the iTunes account that matters. If you share the same account with multiple computers (up to 5) you can buy apps in any of the 5 computers or iPhones. You don't even have to transfer them to other computers you can just click the buy button and it will tell you that you already own it and you will not get charged. I do this all the time and it is perfectly legal.
However, you can only use 1 iTunes account at a time on your iPhone.

Just keep in mind this is NOT the case with music! So be careful!

Also, Audible (owned by Amazon but works with iTunes) DOES allow re-downloading of audiobooks.

my wife and i have had no troubles at all and we have 2 or 3 accounts. one for japan, canada and review purposes.

So will I always have to put in my iTunes credentials on my gf's phone to update the application I transferred to her phone?

Not a big deal but I just didn't expect it to be that way. I figured once I copied to her iTunes account it was hers as well.

you didn't copy the app to her account, just her phone/computer. what you did was authorize her phone/computer for your account.

bit of a tip,

at work if anyone buys an app and we all like it, say its £40.00.

He goes on my iPhone, Logs in on app store on his account. then goes to app, says hes already purchased would he like to download again, Click Yes.

Then once downloaded he signs out, i sign back in and the App stays on my iphone.

Next time i plug my computer in it syncs and wallah! i have the app

Wallah! Piracy! And some poor developer done out of their share of that £40.

I mean I do appreciate where you're coming from but ultimately that is theft.
