There's so much misinformation here, it's ridiculous.

One of the benefits is obviously saving on the VAT. The other benefit is the guaranteed Qualcomm modem as Chinese consumers are more educated in terms of specs. After the iPhone 7 debacle with Intel and Qualcomm, Apple sells only Qualcomm iPhone 8 and X units in China.

Oh that's infuriating. As someone with the Intel....

I better stop here.

Please call out the misinformation in order to make a positive impact and have the mistakes discussed.

Apart from modem differences that might be irrelevant to the non-tech inclined user - what will be different if the OP gets a Chinese phone and activates it in Europe?
