it requires you setting up your GMail account through your exchange account on your iPhone. I already have an exchange account on my phone with my work's email... am I missing something?

crap, I want a true PUSH solution (without the aid of Microsoft Exchange)

For me, it pushes just fine, but it doesn't show all of the other emails that I have in the folders.. Might have to just drag 'em all over..

And this also syncs caldenders and contacts? Woo! Worried about the effect it'll have on my battery life though!

Hmm mine keeps telling me ive got the wrong password even though its not

Just set this up for e-mail and contacts. Sent myself a test message and still haven't got it yet, though.

I would imagine that today will be a "bad" day for push gmail given that I am SURE tons of people are adding it to their iphone and causing a drain on resources

COOL!!!! FINAlly!!!

I've been using the mail and contacts for a while. Finally Gmail push is done!

Yeah true. Message came through after a few minutes anyway.

As I said, though, I'm worried about the effect it'll have on my battery life, and I'll be watching it closely.

Know what I need now? Find My iPhone on via Google! Get on it, Google devevopers!

Worked great for me. And now that I can have multiple folders sync - Labels and sorting now are totally worth it! - this is great. I think I found my reason to not re-up with MobileMe.

i already used google sync for my calendars. am i just supposed to go to the exchange account and slide "mail" to on just like my calendar is on? anything else?

As long as you don't get a constant stream of emails and apple has nothing ****ed with ActiveSync the battery usuage is next to nothing.
