as posted earlier, I had the looping pineapple logo problem. Heres the solution:
Restore your iphone using iTunes to the OFFICIAL 2.0 FIRMWARE (yeah, thats right). Unlike what the guide says, this FINALLY helped me unlock my phone without any trouble.
Restoring to 2.0 should bring your iPhone to the recovery mode (the one with the cable and iTunes). Quit iTunes, run PwnageTool 2.0, Simple Mode, everything same. It will ask you to switch off your phone after which you can easily follow the on-screen instructions to put the iphone into DFU mode. Its simple really, no timing or anything (the DFU mode is just hyped IMO)
Quit Pwnage, start iTunes, option-restore using the custom ipsw on your desktop, after that, dont touch the phone or the mac. EVERYTHING is automatic. You dont need to quit anything or do any stuff.
Finally, you end up with a 2.0 unlocked iPhone.
