Yes, a truly great game--and I think the most fun has to be the occasional amazing comeback, when all hope seems lost.

We were stonewalled in Volcano (about 8v8 players) for something like 17 minutes, unable to blow the transformer. We planted charges maybe twice in all that time--immediately defused. They kept taking our spawn, too. Morale was at an all-time low. Back on Stroggos, news reports were calling for an end to an "unnecessary war."

Then, somehow, someone killed the whole GDF team at one time and we all ran into the transformer room one at a time with no resistance. And we all planted--and armed. Every few seconds the VO would say "Transformer Explosives planted." I can only imaging the GDF hearing it over and over :) Until we had FIVE charges planted and armed and the transformer was lit up like a Christmas tree :D

Then, naturally, we took the Energy Core down with seconds on the clock :)

That had me wondering for a second and I play GDF 99% of the time though on Refinery I play as Field Ops, Covert Ops then Medic.

This is the Assault Ramp. :)

It's astonishing what people can do with a few boards, some cement, a good pair of pliers, and 30 seconds of spare time! I've heard you can even make an electromagnetic disruptor out of those supplies!

LMAO. EMP distrupter is easy, destroying the grates is too, hacking the controls is BS. Don't you find it in every hacking job the space room or where ever you are, even shield generator, the place is too small, everything is cornered in.

Volcano is my favorite map, put me as infiltrator in there and I'm good. I was agressor once, trying to blow the transformer, damn, some work, finally blew it. It took me a long time to find out that the energy core needed flyer drones to destroy, I thot it was an agressor job, took me even longer to find the vents :p.

So Yesterday, I had 120+ servers on my list, connected, played, all good, today, it seems to take slightly longer to load the server list, with my source being internet, and getting only 93 servers, I connect, but it stops at the page where you choose teams and stuff. Whats going on? I did everything, I can't seem to fix it.

Whoa, since I can't play internet, I played computer in refinery, went engineer, hopped in an anansi, went from conscript to Ensign in just that one map. XP was like 200's, damage was in the 80's. I was playing medium difficulty.

It was fine for me, yesterday and again now (various ranked servers). Maybe you've had some temporary local Internet outage or high-traffic surge?

I've noticed that if my other Mac is downloading something, I'll see a lot fewer servers that meet my 75 ping criteria.

As for stopping at the team selection page--I have never seen that. Could it mean that you've joined so late the match has already ended?

no, just stops at the team selection page, it loads the spawning entities, 100%, the music stops, you can hear sound from the map, sometimes the team selection will load, sometimes it will say disconnected from server. I can connect fine though.

My whole internet is slow, I use Verizon DSL, does verizon have a bandwidth cap? Could it be that ETQW used it all up, how much bandwidth does ETQW use?

Well we got on the phone with Verizon, its fast now, apparently there was a problem in west virginia, i live in maryland, and then, idk, they fixed it, blah, blah, dude, w/e, all is good now. While talking about this, which would you recommend FF3 or Safari? I'm liking FF3, but sticking to safari for now.

Glad you got it working.

Either browser sounds great to me.

I don't like Firefox because it's missing some features I like an am used to (and that can't be added via extensions), and because it doesn't look and work QUITE like a normal Mac application. One thing I like with Safari: Spotlight will search the CONTENTS of pages in your history. Great when you know you saw something recently and can't recall where. Also, the widget-maker in Safari is great.

But I do like that Firefox IS is extensible, above and beyond just bookmarklets (which is the only kind of add-on you can get for Safari without using hacks). And if I used it enough, I'm sure I'd find things to miss, just like I have with Safari.

As for speed and standards-compliance, Safari has generally been in the lead lately, and it looks like it will keep that lead in the future (SquirrelFish etc.). But both are miles ahead of Internet Explorer.

I choose Safari, but why not try both? :)

Have both, I've had FF2, but used it for one reason, after upgrading to FF3, you know, it fits more, so I'm thinking.

Blah. ETQW never has worked for me on my MBP 2.2 ghz. Always crashes on launching (bounces in dock then disappears). Does this update fix it?

I opened a ticket. I just received my copy from amazon.co.uk, installed it on my MBP (a new one from last week), which meets all the requirements for the game, and boom. Does not work. The error shown in the terminal is:

found DLL in pak file: /Games/Enemy Territory QUAKE Wars.localized/base/game001.pk4/game.so.bundle/Contents/MacOS/game.so
WARNING: Non-portable: path contains uppercase characters: base/game.so.bundle/Contents/MacOS

I have a case-sensitive formating of my hard drive, so I hope that's not the problem.

So the problem was with the case-sensitive file system. To fix it, you should rename the contents/macos dirs to Contents/MacOS in you ~/Library/Application Support/ETQW directory.
