I was playing around with the iPod Touch 2nd Gen I got, and it's running on 4.2.1 and I managed to actually download a couple of ancient apps for it. Yes, I know that iPod 2nd Generations are very old devices and you can still upload music onto them, surf the web bit and use the built-in apps but I am curious to know if the mail still works on them and if you can link your iCloud account.

Is it possible to do this at all? I know that you can do this on the Touch 4th Gen.

Gmail doesn't work anymore on older devices, due to Google disabling less secure sign-in technology, which is basically just signing in using a Username and Password through the app itself which iOS 6 and below uses. Google now uses a newer sign-in technology, which basically asks the client to open a webpage with the login page (accounts.google.com)
