or the drive is broken or near broken.
I don't know if things have changed but back in the day, I've had computers that had loud drives, for what ever reason the bearings were unusually loud. Nothing was wrong with the drive but they were loud - at least initially. After a period of time (I forget how long at this point) the bearings settled in and quieted down.

I wonder if this could be a similar situation
 
I think the OP understands that. Apparently you didn't fully read what he wrote.
He DOES NOT want to use the HDD at all because of the noise it makes. He's well aware of needing to re-install the system (as he stated) and as a consequence break his current install.

I did fully read what the OP wrote.

My comment was directed at a new reader who might take your posting of the de-fusing method out-of-context and think that he will be left with a functional SSD and HDD after the terminal session.

I just wanted to make sure someone just using your posted procedure fully realized the consequences of this operation.
