We the iphone still be able to talk on the phone and surf the web at the same time?

If it comes on their 3G network, no. Their LTE/4G network probably will support it. But I think their Android phones support wifi + cell phone talking at the same time, so that would probably be possible, if, if, if, if.... :p

Why would Apple make a commercial specifically mentioning this point if they intended to make their phone Verizon-compatable?

Please go look back in time at before apple switch to intel. Up to the day before SJ made the announcement apple ran ads bashing intel and saying how much better its PPC CPUs were. The day after the announcement it was bash PPC for all it worth and say how much better intel is.

Apple marketing is exactly that Marketing. They have been caught multiple times in the past boarder lining on down right lieing so do not base anything on what the marketing department does.

It's not just Apple, either. It's pro forma in marketing. I would suspect that, if they do ultimately sign a deal with Verizon, they might not stop the attack ads until the very last minute.

All I know is, if the iPhone goes to Verizon, a lot of people are going to be pissed that it can't do voice and data simultaneously after the commercials showing it can do voice and data

He's referring to the restrictions Verizon usually puts on phones, I think. Many Verizon phones are crippled in one way or another by Verizon's "customization."

Amen to that! Verizon cripples every phone they sell. My older phone can't communicate with my computer since verizon wants everything to go via their system. If I take a photo I have to upload it to Verizon (which costs money), then send it to the PC. The phone is perfectly capable of transfer to the PC, but Verizon crippled the feature.

They only put their UI on dumb phones. All their smart phones no longer have that horrid customization and restrictions.

I think it will be the equivalent of now with ATT's 3G, when you are on Edge it cannot do simultaneous Voice and data. I imagine the same with Verizon's LTE. On 4G it will be fine, when it has to revert to 3G(EVDO) then no.
