See but that's the thing. I look at the site here and you have people hyper critical of Apple but still they love the company. They will also explain pros and cons of iPhone and Android. For the most part they don't just close their minds. Maybe I'm too frequent here.. I don't know xD

I primarily frequent androidforums.com. I find that the moderators are very good there and the conversations tend to more civil than what you would see in many unmoderated sites. This is the other tech forum site that I visit and I do find this site to be pretty well moderated as well.

I think there is fanboyism in all of us to some extent. I do feel it in myself at times. I do hope that when I post about devices that I like or don't like that I don't sound too fanboyish.

I would say that both sides are equally arrogant.

Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner! :D

Both sides are stupidly blind to the shortcomings of their devices. The key to being neutral is to own devices from both platforms (or even all three if you throw WP8 in the mix) and not being blinded by one over the other. You don't have to own them at the same time, as I do, but at least have owned and used the other platform (for more than a week) before you go boldly proclaiming one is superior to the other, that the other should die, and that the users of the other platform are ignorant plants that only comment because Samsung/Apple/HTC/LG/etc paid them to.

Around here, when you try and be honest about the shortcomings of iOS and the iPhone, you get flamed for being a Phandroid. On other sites, like Android Central, if you're honest about the shortcomings of the S4 or some other flagship Android phone, you're labeled a Fanboy. It's stupid and immature and only intensified by those that throw those tags around (I'm guilty of that in the past as well).

As someone said earlier, use what you like, what works for you, and be happy about it. Don't worry about what other people use/say.

Why is it that Android guys are so arrogant? I read comments and it's like they're plugging their ears and saying, "I can't hear you". No exchange of ideas, just I'm right and your wrong type of personalities. For the most part they also admit to never owning an iOS device so it's very ignorant over all.

Came from HTC Incredible to iPhone 4S now iPhone 5 and starting with a Nexus 7 to an iPad Mini.

Is it just me or do you guys feel the same way?
Feel free to move this, although I found this forum fitting since you have Android and iPhone geeks.

Yes, fandroids are more arrogant.

In my experience, fandroids are worse than Apple fanboys. Apple fanboys spend their time obsessing over Apple products and nothing else. Fandroids spend their time bashing Apple and nothing else.

G+ is a perfect example. Go on any of the Android or Nexus communities. You will see more Apple bashing than Google loving.

I used to be a iOS blowhard. It is kinda strange that I am now transitioning to a android blowhard. They both have their ups and downs.

You will definitely get flamed into oblivion if you are a noob on xda developers, a lot harder then Mac rumors.

There are worse forums though. I have been getting into cycling, and guys on bike forums have to be the most arrogant of any hobby I have. Never felt so condescended in my life. Their answer to everything is come back when you have a $6,000 bike.

OMG this is SOOO right!

I ride to stay in shape and to do stuff with my fiancé and her dad... People at work keep making fun of my old walmart bike...

I manage to do regular 32mile rides, yet I'm still a noob because of my bike.

Pretty much ANY messageboard is the same way for all parties.

I find many iPhone/Apple fanatics to be the most attention-seeking, shallow, redundant, arrogant, and perhaps the largest blind sheep among all of tech forums. But it can cut both ways with FAndroids.

When I visited ESPN NBA messageboards back in the day, the most obnoxious and less-informed to me were Kobe Bryant fans or Kobe Kids like we called them. They would say their hero was the greatest ever, blah blah blah and rag on LeBron James with ZERO rings. Now the tables have turned.

Internet messageboards were practically catered to talk **** to other groups.

And this is the sort of mindset I was talking about earlier. When you use terms like Fandroid or Fanboy, you're part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Grow up.

And I wonder why G+ is so Android-centric? Could it be because it was created by Google? Why does anyone think the hardcore Apple users would flock there? They come to places like MacRumors where they can be around people like themselves. It's that simple.

G+ is no worse than the Apple people that post here daily bashing Android. It's exactly the same mindset.

Yes but you'd expect something different since G+ is a social network..

I suppose your right. And peoples replies here kinda prove that. Guess it's just ignoring and not posting kinda solution.

That's the point though. This site in particular, when you say something isn't working for the most part you get people agreeing or trying to solve it. In an Android site you say X isn't working they bash you most often then not.
XDA is actually better at problem solving or I guess staying on topic as a whole.

You used those same terms in an earlier comment in this exact thread. Why are you pointing me out when you are just as guilty?

Yes, G+ is a Google-made site. Yet, if you would have read, you would have noticed that the issue is that they mostly bash Apple than do any sort of productive Google talk. I never said G+ is Android-centric, as that would mean there are productive android related conversations going on all the time. No, it is mainly Apple bashing.

You say it is the same mindset among different sites, but it really isn't. Some sites actually have productive discussions. Some, like G+, don't. MacRumors for example has very productive iOS discussions in the respective forum. Same with Android in this forum, although there is still a lot of Apple bashing by certain people. Which goes back to my earlier point, a lot of Apple bashing comes from diehard android users.

Heck, you can even go on an Apple community on G+ and there will be so much less Android bashing compared to Android communities with Apple bashing.

There are trolls and fanboys on each platform. But from my experience the Android ones tend to be more agressive than Apple, MS, Playstation, etc.

Many seem to have an obsession with the iPhone, posting in every single article and trying hard to justify their choice of OS. I have no problem with people expressing their opinion, but many of the trolls only resort to insults and name calling to the users of iPhone not the phone itself.

Their obsession sometime borders on hatred and even appears like envy. Business insider did a survey on smartphones where they asked Android users if they would consider switching to iOS, and interestingly more than half of the respondents said they hate Apple. Quite a silly reason to choose a platform instead of choosing what you like and works for you.

And I've see it from both sides equally.

And tons of ignorance from both types of users

I frequent a wide range of forums (thank you tapatalk) and there are trolls and snobs on every one of them. They are usually the most vocal . Reading comments on articles has almost become pointless.

Long story short:

Don't post on xda, search and read.

Ride your bike, forget posting about it (bike forums put any other to shame except maybe luxury watch forums)

iOS is the best

Kobe Bryant is the greatest of all time

Pretty much this. They will never admit fault of Google, ever. But it's more than that. They also make up things. "Oh their gonna sue", "They didn't invent that!" when no one said they do or when no one is suing anyone. I get that in the past Apple sued a lot. But it's been almost 2 years since the hardcore cases. Just seems petty is all. Close minded, etc etc.

And there are those that never admit the fault of Apple. Again - I see it from both sides equally. I don't think anyone can claim one side is better or worse than the other.

The fact that there are even "sides" is ridiculous.

Yes there are many who never judge Apple. Again, that's all they do for the most part. They don't go to, say, a YouTube video, Android Article, or fan page and seemingly try to justify something. They don't try to convert like its a religion (again for the most part). In your opinion you see it equally, understandable. But I and many here don't. It really feels like there is no haven for discussion on some places and like it truely is cool to bash Apple.

I still don't know who this "they" you speak of.

As I stated - members of both "camp" do the exact same thing - and it's no better or no worse from what I've experienced.

It's truly "cool" to bash anything someone doesn't like or is ignorant of. It happens to Apple, Android, Samsung, Nike, Canon, Nikon, Target, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, BMW, Honda and so on.

What I find amusing is that you think this comment of yours is some revelation or that it hasn't been discussed to death. Which is why I posted initially that your thread is flamebait. If you use the search function I am sure you'll find dozens of threads that ask the same question. And have the same responses.

So what's "new" about your thread? Nothing. My opinion of course...

Observation: people who love their iPhone and/or Apple products tend to spend most of their time thinking about how much they love their Apple products. There is high mix of complete apathy and indifference when it comes to competing products, especially android.

iPhone users spend time "doing" largely.

Many people who love android spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about Apple, how their new toy compares to Apple, and why Apple lovers don't love their new android toy as much as they do.

The other half of the time android lovers toil with trying to make their phone work right. A lot of time is spent "fixing" over "doing". The fixing part creates delusions of grandeur where installing a Rom and rooting makes one the next Bill Gates, while an Apple lover would have been done already and moved on to next thing.

Bill gates? Hardly.

I just feel like I'm in control of my own phone. As another poster said:

The phone caters to me and not the other way around.

Regarding your earlier point, there's no denying Apple's power in branding. Unfortunately they may be relying on it a little too much.

Yes I read that empty platitude about the phone "catering" as well. I thought it was trite drivel the first time I read it. Equally so when it's regurgitated.

Many want to drive, few want to bother being a mechanic. People are largely end-result oriented, or want to be whenever possible, and the iPhone has consistently proven to be a popular and easy means to quickly accomplishing key daily tasks out the box.

I don't spend time tweaking my GS4 because I want it to cater to me. Not exactly at least. I tweak because the performance is spotty out the box, the Samsung keyboard sucks, the stock widgets are resource hungry, and there is over a gig of bloat that not only takes up storage, but also opens randomly in the background and eats RAM and once again kills performance...etc...etc...

Here I am, 8 weeks later and finally my GS4 is at point where it performs acceptably where I can return to being task and end-result oriented and enjoying my GS4, which is all I wanted to begin with.

Fair enough. As I said before, I'm surprised the S4 was your Android phone of choice.
