Was wondering from folks that own the MBP 14. Are there any screen related issues that one should be aware of? Example darker corners/edges or pink or purple uneven tints ?
Cheers.

Mine seems perfect to me, and I think most users are satisfied.
But yes, there are threads with people reporting "eye strain," unevenness, blurriness, PWM, etc. which seem to affect some people more than others.
But there are also reports of people having issues with the latest 27" 5k iMac screen and even the 32" Pro XDR display, which are just about the most perfect screens available. I am sure there will be similar threads on the new Studio display, also.
Basically, you just need to try it out for yourself, and make sure you have a return policy like the 14-day one from Apple.

This is exactly the play - if you know you're PWM sensitive or something just give it a shot during the return period and if it does't work for you, send it back. I don't have any issues with iPhone OLED displays at low brightness, the XDR display to the extent that I've used it (a few hours), etc. so I don't exactly speak for those who are known to be sensitive to that stuff.

From a display quality standpoint, all things considered this is the nicest display I've ever used on a device bigger than an iPhone. Only gripe might be the pixel response time being slower than your average 120hz panel resulting in some ghosting that isn't present on, say, my Lenovo Legion 7's 16" 1600p 165hz IPS display or my 27" 1440p gaming monitor with similar specs, but it's minor. The difference between ProMotion/120hz and any other MacBook display is enormous. I can't ever go back to a 60hz panel.

mine is perfect, not saying there are no manufacturing defects overall, but on this forum I already saw bunch of people with cyborg eyes that see things 99.99999999999% of people dont and also bunch of people that take magnifying glass and inspect every pixel

i have cyborg eyes and can pretty much detect unevenness in any screen. finding a perfect screen is a fools errand as no such thing exists for us eagle eyed robots

None here. It’s perfect.

There will no doubt be some issues as this is a completely new line of displays but they should be ironed out eventually. If you’re not happy you can take it back.

The M1 Air. I wouldn’t say the one I had was fabulous and ended up returning it for another one which was slightly better. The 14 screen in my opinion is worlds apart
Yes I owned an MBA first. The 14 screen still makes me go “whoaaa” when I accidentally trip over some HDR content. Its absolutely insanely good.

I see a pretty uneven color tint, more pinkish on left side. I have a 32 300$ inch monitor that is less distracting so imo it's not great, pretty average at best.

The lighting is even just not the color tint.

I always intended to wait for the Mac Studio (or as I always called it, a thicc Mac mini). But I pulled the trigger on this 14" MBP instead a few months ago.

This screen is the main reason I have zero regrets about that decision.

I've had mine clamshelled since I got it in November, but this thread got me nervous, so opened it up for a detailed inspection.

It looks perfectly fine to me, except of course for the super-reflective surface that has annoyed me since the matte screen option was removed in 2010.

oh and if you dont believe me im happy to meet over coffee, quickly point out the flaws in any "perfect" screen you bring me and then prove it scientifically with a colormeter

ok its "perfect" for me, you can find minimal faults on everything, but I bought MBP for work, you obviously bought it so you can exam it with colormeters, magnifying glasses or whatever and then cry on forum because 2 pixels are slightly different color

I read that using anything other than the default screen scaling makes the fonts look bad. Perhaps that the inherent nature of the display.

Every single MBP 14" I've seen (over 10) has had darker edges.. it comes with the screen technology. Most people don't seem to notice it, and it's a lot less noticeable on the 16" but it's there. It's always there.

It bugged me for a few days then I moved on once I actually started using it for work.

Uniformity is pretty decent, again, it's never perfect but I'm good with it. Uniformity was better on my 2020 MBA but this machine does a lot of stuff that one doesn't.

My only real complaint with the MBP 14" is the keys have more rattle and are less firm feeling. That's been the case for most MBP 14" keyboard's I've tried, some keyboards feel more firm and less wobbly though with almost no rattle. It's a JUNGLE out there (if you have really bad OCD like I do)

Lol - I'm not annoyed by the shadows because they are symmetrical and you are not bothered by uniformity yet I am. I seem to be one of the few people bothered by it. The lighting is great - no dark spots in the viewing area or corners that look very different from the others and we also don't have to worry about backlight bleeding on dark scenes, but I see a lot of different color tints in different locations over my display.
