ok its "perfect" for me, you can find minimal faults on everything, but I bought MBP for work, you obviously bought it so you can exam it with colormeters, magnifying glasses or whatever and then cry on forum because 2 pixels are slightly different color
Thanks that’s exactly my point. Woosh

Apple Facing M1 MacBook Pro Display Issues

https://www.forbes.com/sites/ewansp...k-pro-broken-hdmi-4k-display/?sh=7887299f2b45

Apple may have set taken control of the conversation with its Apple Silicon chipsets, and it may have picked up critical acclaim from the reviewers of the new MacBook and Mac hardware running the M1 chips, but more problems keep cropping up with no indication when they will be addressed by Tim Cook’s team.

The latest to step into the spotlight is the handling of external displays by all of the M1 powered desktops and laptops. A significant number of third-party external monitors have not been able to reproduce a crisp and appealing feel of the built in displays, with font sizes blurred, widgets resized too small, and incorrect resolutions being applied.

I'm about to purchase MBP 14" but I was wondering about screen tint uniformity. I would like to hear from other MBP 14" owners who are very critical with screen uniformity problems. My main concern is that I cannot stand a screen with different tint between sides when displaying full white or light grey images. It drives me crazy if something like browsing this forum in full screen mode and you can see that sides of the white bars between left and right are a little different, especially when other is greenish and other pinkish. Also if there are noticeable bright or dark bars, is pretty intolerable for me.

So I would like to hear if that is something common with MBP 14"?

Or would I have better luck with staying standard IPS like MBA M2?

As a side note, I've had MBA 13" 2018, MBP 13" 2019 and MBA M1 2020 models myself and I found all three had pretty good uniformity with MBA M1 being very good (it only had some red tint in full black image in dark door) uniformity in white image. So if MBP 14"'s generally are like that, I can live with it but at least one MBP 16" demo model I saw, had unacceptable green one side pink other side issue, however 14" model in the same shop looked acceptable to me (just a bit darker maybe bluish side but no tint difference).

The uniformity is pretty solid, however every single Macbook Pro 14"/16" will feature a slightly darker tint around the edges. I initially thought it was a screen flaw, but it turned out to be present on all Macbook's I tested. I mentioned it here too since no other youtuber seems to talk about it:

It's a very minor thing that my eyes have since tuned out, but it's definitely an inconsistency.

Otherwise I am beyond pleased with the 14" MBP. Highly recommend.

Something like this I'm able to live with as long as there is no tint difference.

No screen issues on mine. I can see the grey tint on the edges if I really look for it on a white screen, but it's so light that I have trouble even finding it sometimes. Just comes with the territory on this type of display tech.

Its miniLED "problem", every single M1 12.9" iPad Pro has it, not surprised to see it present on 14/16" as well.
That and blooming, but in regards to blooming it depends on ones preception, eye sight and particular machine-display in question.

The first one I bought had some weird issue where it was almost like someone smeared fingerprints or grease behind the panel so all the whites looked really dirty and splotchy. My wife even noticed and she is not at all picky or super tech savvy. I truly think this was a one off as none in the store looked that way. The second one was fine but just had a few dead pixels. Third one is perfect. I think I just got unlucky with the first one. Dead pixels though are just a fact of life and if your panel has them up to you what your tolerance is for them.

I think you most likely won’t have any issues.

I'm extremely picky when it comes to displays but I gotta say these Mini LED displays are the best I've come across with very good quality control. No dead pixels, even colour, even brightness.

Usually, I can find a flaw with any display.

That was good to hear from someone who sounds like as picky as I'm with the displays. I tend to find flaws with every display I get. Often what I consider a big issue is something that others struggle to see or think is nothing to complain about.

For example, this was my issue with my MBA M1 panel I hardly learned to live with.
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/m1-macbook-air-black-uniformity-red-glow.2274365/
That issue would show only in dark or almost dark room with full screen black image (or at least large parts of even black on the sides) and with rather high brightness setting. However that panel was very clean and even with any lighter grey and white image, I posted photos of white test screen also. So if MBP 14" screen is like that, I can live with it. I just tend to have extremely bad luck, so usually I get bad screen and/or banged up unit (I almost always find scratches in my new Apple gear too).

Happy to report we bought a MBP 14” today for my wife and both the screen and the laptop itself are excellent without any issues (and I’m super picky). I think even more so this suggests that the first one I got for myself was just a dud and not the norm.
