Another slow syncer

Up until today my iPhone 3GS synced fully in about a minute. Now, suddenly, it takes forever. It's not the backup. That takes about a second and a half. But then I'm told in iTunes that the phone is syncing Contacts (with Outlook - I am on a PC) and that takes 10 to 15 minutes, then Calandar takes another 10, then bookmarks another 10 and on and on. I can see many other people here also have slow syncs but in a host of different. I am no confident that anyone has a quick fix - but does someone??

Thanks

Thanks for that but I don't seem to be able to turn off "send this information to Apple" in the latest iTunes, as described in the article you pointed out. I suppose the servers at Apple could be having a very bad day which is leading to the problems today. Hope so.

Done everything

I have now done a complete restore - not from backup - which entails lots of resetting things, email accounts and the rest. And it has made no difference -the sync is still going after 20 minutes when it used to take less than 5. Apple needs to sort this out.

I think this is more of an issue to do with iTunes 9 and iPhoneOS 3.12 than anything hardware related.

iTunes

The cuplrits are defitely Contacts, Calendar and Bookmarks. If it is an issue with iTunes 9, can everyone having these problems please make as much noise as possible in Apple's direction so they can sort it out as soon as possible?

Sync

When I restored to a "clean" iphone - or a new iphone as itunes calls it - all the apps, files, contents, settings etc - had to be copied, or synced, back to the phone from my computer. That, of course, took time - about the same as it takes now on every single subsequent sync. Is everything being copied over once again, every time? Now, syncing is taking much longer than before I did the restore to escape long syncs. If so, there's a fault in itunes 9 by the sound of it as people above me here seem to think. I have turned off reporting back to Apple and that hasn't helped.

(thought i had my problem fixed) after i posted my above comment..... i figured out what my actual problem was...

are you using the app: MotionX GPS Drive?

No - not using it. Is it good?
Was that the cause of your trouble?

yaaa... love the app(especially for $3).... but turns out that there is a bug in the program, you have to clear the cache, then iTunes sync/backup goes smoothly..... after contacting them, they emailed me and said "they fixed the problem on the next release coming out soon".... they do have great customer service and it really isn't a problem (now I know the solution)....

other than that... sorry can't help you out...... good luck......

Sorted

I am having some difficulty typing this as my fingers are crossed on both hands but I think I may have sorted my problem at least. I went to this page on Apple help http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1692 and reset the Sync History (about halfway down). Now syncs take less than a minute again. Hope it works for you (and me, for ever, otherwise I'll be back here).
