A bit of both, I do photography on the side, so it's going to be a great aide for that! Editing 18MP images on a Core 2 Duo was painful to say the least![]()
Nice, I have done it full time for 25 years, high end advertising, editorial and fine art. I went with a 6 x 3.33 with 32 GB of OWC ram, 10TB of storage on board and a 120GB SSD in the lower optical bay for boot. So far it is eating through 600MB scans and single export raw output in Lightroom in a fraction of the time it did on my old 1,1 2.66 Mac Pro, well worth it. I also have a new refurb 30" ACD with it, fantastic combo. All four FW800 ports are taken up by 4 2TB externals, quite a bit of storage and backup now. Both my new Mac Pro and 13" Macbook Pro use a 2TB Time Capsule for the boot drive backup in each.
Now when you say "Editing", you really mean post-processing, correct? Editing is choosing the photo, not sure when this term misuse started, probably when the terms "Nice Capture" and "Bokehlicious" came out, LOL!
My iPad-2 gets here on Friday, I can't wait to sync it to my new mobile folder of 10GB worth of stock images for when I am on the road, a good week for sure.
Have fun, there is nothing better than moving into a new Mac!
