Raising the M4 Mini up a little to let it breath better?

Interesting, although this would create a cavity between the plate and the desk. Depending on how much the Mini would be isolated from the plate this cavity could function as a musical body which could amplify any sound from the mini.

Maybe you are correct about sound amplification. I just wonder if a solid objet to rest the Mini, one that has a similar shape as an upside down plate would help? In relation to the Mini and cooling, I have read some threads where some are resting the older Mini on its side, keeping the exhaust from the fan facing up (to the 12:00 o'clock position, which in turn increases cooling efficiency.
