Have you experienced your camera shaking/rattling bug on your iPhone 14 Pro/Max?

yeh same! hmm yeah maybe we should I don’t think it should make those noises. But I think I’ll wait till the apparent fix next week with software
My wife was saying this was happening to her phone last night while in the Apple camera app.
She wasn't at the time even aware of any of the 3rd party camera "issues".
I don't know if she ever tested it though...
But she only uses Instagram, and even then, she does not use the camera function through the app.
This is on her 14 PM. I don't notice anything out of the ordinary on my Pro.

I tried reproducing the rattling/shaking issue with my 14 Pro in Snapchat/TikTok, but there were no abnormalities.

However, i'm hearing a slight single "click"/"pop" noise coming from the camera module when accessing the Instagram camera. Apart from that - nothing.

I don't know if that's "normal" and if it can/did damage the camera.

I have not experienced this on my space black Pro Max. Before speculation began that this bug may be damaging the camera unit, I did try to reproduce it on Instagram, and I did not encounter it. I have not tried it again and in fact I have disabled the camera for all apps but the native camera app. It’s just not worth the risk.

Could you hear/notice a "click" noise when opening the Instagram camera?

In my case it doesn't happen every time, but roughly every 2.-3. try.

I get it when opening the camera app on MS teams, the first time it was really bad and the phone vibrated but since the it just sorts itself out

I think the click noise is fairly standard. I wouldn’t be too worried unless you get the loud rattle. Even then from what Apple says you should be alright once the fix comes out.

I actually didn’t hear anything. It was silent. I put it up to my ear when I did it. I closed it and opened it again, and again nothing. I don’t use Tik Tok or Snapchat so I didn’t test those. Then I read where at least one person said their camera could no longer focus after this bug was triggered, so I stopped my investigation. I wasn’t about to push my luck.

I have camera shake at 2x zoom in the stock app and my lenses have the static noise. Pro Max.

A significant amount of new iPhones having a heavily defective main camera is quite the issue.

Not defective, otherwise the camera app would do it too.

Just a software update for those affected apps. Probably apps not handling the OIS properly for the new camera.

So I just put my Pro, not max, up to my ear on 1x or 2x zoom in stock camera app and I can hear the static sound.
But like, I have the camera ON my ear to have to hear it.
No sort of vibrating or shaking though.

So mine didn’t do it the first few times with Snapchat but now when I open it and tap to focus it freaks out. Happens more if there’s something closer to the lens and I get the extreme vibration people have been reporting. When I went back to regular camera I saw some jumping (no vibration) but hasn’t returned since. I’m very conflicted on what to do now. Even with next weeks update it seems like this has already done permanent damage to the stabilization? I want to just setup a regular exchange (and avoid third party camera apps until next update) but my store doesn’t have any pros in stock. If I go through Genius Bar they might try to do a camera swap or make me wait for next weeks update and even then have to wait for Genius stock to come in.

I wouldn’t trade it. It’s unlikely to have csuse any damage. Apple said it hasn’t as well. Also if it was only a few seconds it’s hot enough to damage. Just use the camera and see if it focuses.
