That Kindle pic is great. My lil' lady will get a chuckle and agree whole-heartedly with it. Our house is iPad/Kindle friendly; we're both Mac nuts and she's a read-a-holic. She sampled iBooks and while she feels the presentation and colors are gorgeous, for extended reading (indoors or out) she sticks to the e-ink. That's fine by me; more time w/ the iPad for me. ;)

On a more serious note, the picture depicts someone using a Kindle while relaxing in the beach. Is there a splashproof/dustproof case for the iPad? I imagine that such a thing would interfere with the touch screen operation.

I have a peculiar potential application for the iPad which would motivate the use of such a case. Imagine the iPad as a virtual guitar songbook/chordbook, as you are sitting around a campfire. I would want some protection against dust and setting the iPad down on the ground.

I'm a diver - and I'm pissed because my iPad is now broken. I had downloaded PADI dive tables and went down about 20 feet for 30 minutes with my iPad. It was unresponsive to my touch AND finally completely shut down

WTF Apple?

Apple iPad: Because the LACK of sun doesn't care how low-contrast your e-ink is.

My feeling are not hurt at all, I just don't find it funny. I found the pic with the iPod touch inside the iPad a lot funnier.

Make the image a bit bigger and that kindle looks like it has a picture of a little dog on it.

It's funny because if the sun was your primary concern you would just read an old paper back.

Pix or it didn't happen.

Actually, it was maracas:
