10.1.1 using 6S Plus 128GB and I can't believe how terrible this OS is in the the iOS history I have (since iPhone 4)...

Since updating to 10.1.1 the battery life is significantly shorter. Just now I had to shut down the phone because the thing was overheating while browsing MacRumors.... I have never felt it so hot. My iPad Pro 9.7" also sucks battery now as well. I have Hey Siri off, background refresh off, reduce movement off, auto brightness on, etc.

I was one of the first to update to 10 and was caught in the bricking, plug into iTunes, bug and had to do a complete restore on both iPhone and iPad Pro. I have tried to go back to ios 9.3.5 and seems that is impossible now. I have no idea why Apple has to make it impossible to go back for you. Now I'm stuck in these shoddy releases as a secondary beta tester....

I moved my MacBook Pro back to El Capitan and glad I could do that no problems, but Sierra, no way I didn't like that either.

I think Apple seems to be losing quality control on their software. For now I hope this issues get fixed and I will never again update for Apple products from the beginning. Lesson learned.

I just sit here waiting for posts saying "I have no such issue you have and yours must be something wrong. What about a full restore".

But, for me, iOS 10 is bad but not that terrible, plus Apple brings back star rating in iOS 10.2 beta 1. Now I am also used to the new music app and it is not entirely a disaster.

Mac OS X Sierra is not that spectacular but regardless. I am using it and no major issue. I keep it logged in over 40 days without restarting, pretty solid.

Seriously though. My 6s took a slight battery hit, but do not have the overheating problems. As for my iPad Pro 9.7, I still get 10 hours plus that I used too on ios9. Especially on 10.2.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
I think it's pretty rubbish too at one task, I have been using my little iPod Nano 3rd gen for my car music for all these years, always worked fine via USB.
So I think I could upgrade and for this last Christmas I got an iPod Touch 16GB. Now I was trying to get it to work via Bluetooth but I have an iPhone too and it was tempremental at working.
Ok, so that didn't work, and I went back to USB, and in the meantime I got an iPhone 7.

Now since I updated my iPod to iOS 10 it no longer works via USB!!! You have to set it playing and it plays fine but their is no sound, so you have to unplug it then plug it back in and sometimes it works. This on both the iPhone and iPod Touch. It's crap, before iOS 10 it works fine, since iOS 10 and all the latest updates no, in fact the last update made it worst as I was trying to just use my iPhone the other day and it wouldn't work at all now.. and it now has no headphone jack...

So thanks to Apples useless iOS I am going to go back to my several years old iPod Nano, because that was made in the days when Apple just made things that just worked and not the opposite and break things that work.

In fact I agree with those that say since iOS 7 it's been one mess after another. They need to completely rewrite it IMO and stop bolting stuff on that breaks it.

Sorry for the rant, but it's annoyed me.

Gotta be in it to win it
I think 10.1.1 has some issues for some people. However, I'm on 10.2 beta 1 and it's worlds away from 10.1.1 on a 6S.

Most of the people I know with iphone 6 and newer are on 10.1.1 and nobody is having those types of severe issues.

Or waiting for the inevitable, IOS 10 is just so much #### for everybody I know. How could this pass apple QC? Apple has been going downhill since TC took reign. There it had to be said.

I think a lot of people actually don't "maintain" their devices and laptops and that's why such issues occur due to processes being stuck in a loop or something dodgy like that. People really should learn more about the devices they use and maintain them properly. The phones we use today are way more complicated than the computers people used in the 90s. People should really stop looking at these smart devices as "phones". They're mini computers and every computer requires maintenance especially when multiple services are involved.

So your advice is for all the millions of iOS users out there to become qualified IT technicians, to make up for Apples lack of making things that just work, like a phone.

It does not work like a "phone". Being able to make phone calls over cellular network is just one of the functionalities. There's no harm in people learning a bit about the devices they use. They don't need to qualify for IT technicians and for the vast majority things work just fine. In fact the percentage of people who actually need help from the Genius Bar is below 1%.

The only phone which wont have any problems with iOS 10 is the iPhone 7.My iPhone 6 never reached iOS 8.4.1 performance levels and battery life deteriorated to the point I was charging it at least 3 times a day!Now on iPhone 7 Plus battery life on a single charge is 1.5 days and no issues whatsoever regardng lag or stutter. If there is one lesson I learnt its that the only way to REALLY enjoy the latest iOS is to get the latest iPhones.Anything older and you are likely to get a substandard experience

Actually its more like Apple doesnt bother optimising iOS for old devices. For instance I swear my iPhone 6 is taking twice as long to boot as on iOS 10 than it did on iOS 9.Also on startup after keying in the passcode there is a slight delay before the home screen launches

No, you've simply made an apologetic comment for Apple, the company who's ENTIRE mandate and image is based on 'it must works'. I highly suspect the majority of people simply don't bother using features that don't work. Or they ask their garage to try and fix the issue if it's ca connection.
It's a straw man argument to use statistics of how many people apparently use the Genius Bar, a link to back up your claim there is required I feel.

In case you hadn't noticed, life's too short for the majority of people to learn how to fix technical faults with there phones, they don't fix their cars!

FYI - their motto is "it just works" and not 'it must work', as you mentioned. It's not a critical system. Even critical system has failures and that why they design multiple fallback mechanisms to cater for that below 1% "just in case" situations.

If you think every system should work 100% always for everyone then you're just being naive.

And to maintain a device one really doesn't need to get all "technical".

As I mentioned in my post, I was subject to the crash due to people downloading iOS 10 within the first hour. I had to do a full re-download factory restore of my iPhone. Not an overlapped installed of iOS 10 onto iOS 9....

iCloud backed up and and synced my Music onto iPhone. Not sure what other maintanence you are suggesting, but I think you are wrong thinking it must me a maintenance issue.

Perhaps it would be more logical to say that iOS 10 on my specific iPhone model and configuration may be the issue. Each iPhone configuration (Samsung, TMHC requires different drivers).

Pshhhhh, know it alls...

I wasn't specifically trying to say anything to you to be honest. Sometimes restoring from backup creates problems as well if the backup is corrupted. Although if you restore from iCloud backup then it's significantly safer.

Its time for a restore as new.. No iCloud backup, no iTunes backup. Your phone clearly has corrupted software if you are experiencing that many issues. I am running iOS 10.1.1 and Sierra without a single issue (besides the keyboard bug on iOS, which is fixed in 10.2). No battery life issues, or any crashing. Restore as new is your only option. Restoring from backups can cause this corruption to occur.

I wish people would try that before posting rants saying something is the worst release in history. Because that is simply not true. And its also the most complex release thus far in history, which means things are more likely to go wrong.

I had a lot of lag and other issues as well on my iPhone 6. I made a backup in iTunes, erased all data from the phone, and then restored from the backup. Once spotlight was done indexing the phone and apps had finished automatically downloading, the phone was MUCH faster. It's been pretty good for about a week so far.
[doublepost=1478448755][/doublepost]Even my 80 year old mother was noticing lag on her 6+, and she's no techie. This fixed her issues to. My wife's iPhone as well. I don't think it has to do with corrupted data as much as it has to do with iOS updates being applied again and again.

Yeah, it's not right to expect a 700 pounds phone to work right? I expect my phone to work properly and then for the richest coporation with billions and billions, more then some countries, in the bank to not then go and break what was working because they have sloppy quality control. Stop apologising for them.

If it's running hot check the crash logs to see if you can identify what's causing the issue. Although applications are sandboxed, they can often cause runaway processes even when it looks like you have closed them.

Go into general then reset all settings, see if that resolves the issue.
