Reason for Camera Connection Kit delay?

Does anyone have an answer to this yet?

My conspiracy theory, after reading the thumb drive thread here, is that Apple is rebranding the device and included SD reader to not only function as a camera kit, but some type of transfer kit....

I could only hope so. That would add a lot more value to the iPad if one could connect flash drives, etc to the device. It would sure make my life as a design student easier.

It seems plausible but not likely.
