Do you know how to check what revision the router is? Does anyone here have Earthlink DSL and/or the Zyxel modem and use it with an airport extreme base station? Did anyone have the WGR614 and switch to the aiport extreme, and if so, do you think it's a good idea?

Thanks!

Well actually mine says it`s WGR 614 v5. And I bought it bout 6-7 months ago. So definitely it`s coz of an upgrade that mine doesnt problem be at all.

BTW why not try the netgear website n check if they have a firmwware upgrade for your model which solves the problem?

It would just randomly drop connections and would need to be reset all the time.

I had a similar problem with my Linksys and it was because the routere was not compatable with my ADSL connection. I called Linksys and they sent me a brand new upgrade for free:D happy days...

Would the linksys wrt54g have greater range then the airport express since it has external antennas or would it be about the same?

I want to connect my 2 macs to the net, one is upstairs the other is downstairs.

I bought one and it was terrible. I exchanged it for a Linksys WRT54G which hasn't been too much better.

I have absolutely no problems with my Netgear WGR614... it's always the same, either people love the Netgear routers or they hate them ;-)

Mine works fine both on ground and first floor. i`ve placed it on 1st floor and get coverage in each n every corner of the first floor. But on the ground floor my access is extremely restricted. It works when I m within 5-6 mts from it . But in my other office which is bout 10 mts away from the router I get extremely poor coverage. But then I only need it in my office, so it`s not much of a problem in my case.

BTW. I m using Netgear wgr 614v5.
