I'm new to PC gaming and would like to be recommended some quality titles to play under bootcamp.

This really depends on a few things, so I'll give you a few

if you like Turned based strategy games, then give Space Empires IV or V a try, they're both available on steam, and have demos. (4 even runs under Parallels :) )

If you're more interested in RTS, then I'd say the usual, Starcraft, Warcraft II or possibly Supreme Commander, if your computer can handle it.

However the game i like the most is not mention above. Bad luck.
Instead of telling him that the game you like isn't up there... why not tell him the game instead?

For example I chose Civ4... but, for example I m not above telling him that Age of Empires III (and expansions) are worth a look...

Also:
Supreme Commander

and if I had a second vote... I've heard company of heroes is a great game that i haven't played.

Age of empires III plus asian dynasties/warchiefs works well on my macbook, supreme commander will be to heavy after about 40 mins of playing unless you are running a macbook pro /high spec imac with lots of ram

I would think some MMO's would count as part stategy - check out FFXI Online

http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy..._1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1201309663&sr=8-1

it has a bit of a steep learning curve which turns off some novices but the party dynamic is unbeatable. :D

from the ones you've listed civ 3 is my fav - haven't tried some of the others like homeworld or total war.

I highly recommend "Medieval 2: Total War".

There's also a Total War special pack with "Shogun", "Medieval"(1) & "Rome" now available at a bargain price. In fact, some people rate "Rome" as even better than "Medieval 2", but I think both are quite excellent. IMO, you're very unlikely to regret getting these games.

Bootcamp gaming you say?

Well all (or most, at least) of the nubs above have failed to read the question properly, as although Starcraft et al are, admittledly awesome, they all run on Mac OS anyway.

And now I've just realised that my suggestion of Age Of Empires 3 also runs on Mac... Ah well, I tried.

Battle for Middle Earth II is good for the shiny graphics and suchlike. Never tried Total War or Medieval series, so I can't comment there.

EDIT: Download some demos, it's the best way to get a feel for what you like.

Company of Heroes, company of heroes opposing front.
try these, and you ll be so addicted..

starcraft. best rts of all time, you can buy the original game + expansion for $20, and it'll run on osx. there's no reason to miss out on this game.

Company of Heroes, StarCraft, WarCraft III, Civilization IV, LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth I and II.

Pick up any of these games and you'll enjoy them thoroughly. :D
