Well, I'm fine as long as Dropbox does work anyway... (I'm used to fake warnings with Spotify. ;D ) You've done enough as it is, Czo - thanks..!

Do you guys still trust Dropbox after what was discovered about security?

http://applehelpwriter.com/2016/07/28/revealing-dropboxs-dirty-little-security-hack/
I stopped trusting them when this happened:
Finally, we’re proud to welcome Dr. Condoleezza Rice to our Board of Directors. When looking to grow our board, we sought out a leader who could help us expand our global footprint. Dr. Rice has had an illustrious career as Provost of Stanford University, board member of companies like Hewlett Packard and Charles Schwab, and former United States Secretary of State. We’re honored to be adding someone as brilliant and accomplished as Dr. Rice to our team.

Dropbox. NSA. Domestic surveillance. I will let you reach your own conclusions.

That said I don't keep anything of personal sensitivity long-term on Dropbox. I made an encrypted disk image and put that somewhere else where it's still accessible.

I love conversations about which software providers to trust. But first, thanks, Czo, for all the work!

I am still keeping my eyes open for a potential Dropbox replacement that I can commit to, but Dropbox works pretty fluidly on my end. I've tried Box and even looked at Microsoft's OneDrive or Amazon's option. But they don't quite capture it. Box at least offers a rudimentary WebDav setup, but it's not very reliable in Leopard.

So, I will stick with Dropbox, even with the bad news/security issues as mentioned before.

It doesn't work as The Lord Dropbox ask me to install the latest version :(
Yeah, we're in another timeout period. Hopefully @Czo can help us out again.

If not, we made it over a year and a half past the cut off time.

Hey guys, I noticed after installing dropbox with Czo's fix (thank you!) that I get a progression in the taskbar of three box Icon versions. I was curious if you guys saw the same thing?

What is it? Auto updating?

Just curious. Thanks :)
[doublepost=1481940772][/doublepost]Yanno, I also noticed DB is eating my CPUs for dinner. Is there any way to switch DP to idle? This is crazy.

Thanks.

It's syncing.

Never noticed the dual icons though.

However, my menu bar is black and the Dropbox icon is also black so there could be a second icon and I wouldn't even know it based on how light it is in your screenshots.

As long as it's keeping files straight and isn't giving you any warnings about updating it's working correctly.

PS. If you need to quit it, hold down OPTN before you click on the icon.

Man Eric, it updates constantly (roughly every 20 seconds or so) on my pmg5 and doesn't quit. It's chewing up CPUs like crazy - has user cpu usage dimed at like 99% on the dual 2ghz G5. I guess I will just keep it paused until I need to use it.

I did not expect that type of cpu consumption from a cloud resource lol. :D
[doublepost=1481942341][/doublepost]OK, this is even weirder. It won't pause the sync after being chosen (choice under option+box). I don't think this will work for me. I mean I guess I can keep it off until I want it. Unfortunate as it works on my intel mb. Out of curiosity, how do you uninstall DB from a mac? I don't see it in apps, preferences, or command+tab.

If you haven't synced in a while it can take some time.

I have had what you describe happen before though. Quitting the app and then relaunching it settled it down.

But if you truly want to delete it, just delete the app and delete the Dropbox folder.

Something else to know. If you are updating GB's of files then this can take a while.

Hopefully it works out for you.

Yeah, I am not going to give up on it just yet as I use it with my mb and my ip6 pretty regularly. I'll give your recommendations a shot and even if it's like DB on crack with this PPC machine, I can just keep it off when not needing it.

Latest Cyberduck for intel-Macs is able to connect to Dropbox. No sync but smooth accessibility.
It's OpenSource and the developer, David Kocher, told me today, that it's possible to anyone to make a build for PPC. Wish I'd be a programmer.
Maybe this is the future to make Dropbox and GoogleDrive available for a longer time.
