It’s hard to predict the future, but it wouldn’t make a lot of sense for Apple to redesign the Air anytime soon. They have a ton of products to get migrated over to the M series CPU over the next 2 years. I don’t think it’s likely they are going to put out two generations of any of them in that time. Also, why would Apple redesign something that is best in class already?

So if you are looking for a redesigned Air, I would expect late 2023 at the earliest. And more likely just a processor bump.

In the mean time we will be seeing new iMacs, Mac Pros, 16” MBP, Maybe 12“ MacBook, Mini Pro, AppleTV, etc. Apple has a huge workload of new releases coming.

I also think that the 2021 redesign of the MBP will give us a clearer picture of what type of redesign we can expect for the MBA at some point in the future - 2023-2025. As its entry-level model, the MBA will always be differentiated in some fashion from the updates we'll see in 2021, but you can work off of those updates to get an idea of some of what the MBA will inherit.
