You speak from experience ?

I can confirm... I've seen an average discount of 15% or so from new/retail at Apple... of course, some products are discounted by third party retailers (BestBuy has sales from time to time; B&H Photo; other online retailers), so do your homework... You can find the exact configuration that you desire at the refurb site, with a bit of patience... many third party retailers only stock a few standard configurations... so shop around and know what you're after... you can save some cash at the Apple refurb site - with full warranty.

I'm very satisfied with my Apple refurb. Got my 27" 2015 iMac for better than $300 off and haven't had a hiccup with it, yet. I'd certainly by another when the time comes.

Going to post this here... (Mods feel free to move if need be.)

I've bought a couple of refurbs. The iMac that I bought lasted almost 7 years and was in perfect condition when it arrived. It didn't come in the fancy packaging Apple is known for but who cares about that? Easily one of the best machines I've ever owned. The other was an iPod one of my kids bought. Also lasted forever and worked and looked just like new.

Apple is known for the quality of their refurbs. If you spot something you want, I'd go for it. You can't go wrong and they sell fast once Apple posts them.

Another great thing about ordering refurb is that sometimes Apple will give you a machine with better specs than what you ordered and paid for. I've bought a number of mac minis and iMacs through Apple's refurb store that have come with 16GB of RAM instead of 8GB I ordered, and an iMac that came with a faster CPU.

Owner of 2 refurbs. A 2007 24" iMac, and a 2012 i7 quad Mini.

Both still running fine. Excellent value for money (especially the Mini, got that just as both the exchange rate and Apple's pricing were at their most favourable in years :) ).

If you have the money up front, know what you want, and can afford to wait a bit, the refurb store is the place to buy Macs.

well, it depends ..

refurbs are solid purchases in general but as soon as street prices undercut refurb prices it does not make any sense to go refurb

Question when you purchase an iPhone refurbished, how do you know which carrier model you are getting???

When you order it from Apple you're able to select the carrier you plan on using @ that time.

In Feb. I bought my son a refurb'd iP7 as a graduation gift & it's worked flawlessly, same as the 2007 refurb'd iMac that I'm typing this reply from.

Has anyone had any experience with Apple refurbished products?
I am more so looking at the computers like the MacBooks.
Typically wonder if anyone has purchased one and what the end result was?
I am also curious if everything they state turns out to be 100% true as far as the item looking and performing like new and being inspected multiple times.
I am also sure some of the refurbished products are just simple returns like if a customer picked up a MacBook and then decided to go for a pro.

Curious to hear feedback and thoughts.

I've bought refurbished in the past (my first 11" MBA, - a 2012 - which I bought in 2013 as it was available - I was briefly home on leave - while I was waiting for my CTO 13" MBA); I found it excellent, so good that I ordered a CTO 11" MBA in 2014.

The refurb I sold to a colleague at his request and he loved it.

Yeah as long as they are brand new I am more comfortable with that.

I can't remember the last time I bought a Mac that wasn't a refurb, and I've bought a number of iPods, accessories, and an iPad all through the refurbished section. Every single item has been indistinguishable from new. You've got the same warranty, same accessories, same everything except they come in plainer boxes.

I wonder what parts they are using at new & what parts are re used...?

I have bought and recommended numerous Apple Refurbed products, from laptops, desktops, iPods and iPads over the last 10 years... Not one problem with any of them. Since you're getting the Exact Same 1 year Apple Warrenty/Apple Care... You're getting the same risk as buying new.

However, you may feel differently.

The refurbished MacBook is 1099 at the APple store and 1149 at best buy so 50 $ difference, which one would you purchase?

The reason I bought a refurb SS S3 because I could get Apple care and save some money.
The watch did have some finger prints on it and the repackaging wasn’t as crisp and clean as new. Other than that, no issues

Did it look brand new?

Apparently with the watches they replace no parts. So they are probably store returns that go through a functionality test.
