Some have gotten older, some have given up waiting for a jailbreak, some moved to android, plus with the side loading to get a JB, people are scared to try something that used to be "slide to jailbreak" most of my friends are geeky like me but they are just happy with the iPhone the way it is. I wonder when Apple Watch jailbreak will happen, that could change the Apple Watch significantly.

It supposedly has been jailbroken and I think the dude plans to rls Apple Watch jailbreak. If I recall correctly

I wonder how that would happen, trying to put new code from the phone I suppose or connect the charger to the computer.

LiberIOS official website states that this jailbreak WILL eventually support/include an updated Cydia! That's despite naysayers who doubted it would be. I am so pleased about this thanks to Jonathan Levin!

After all the widespread commentaries saying that jailbreaking was dead, there are no less than five active jailbreak projects for iOS 10.3.x going on, one jailbreak for 10.3.x 32 bit already available and liberIOS for 11.x.y x<2, plus one private, confirmed jailbreak of 11.2.x by pandora labs. I felt it was just a matter of time and sitting on 10.3.1 wasn't so bad. Now, I'm upgrading to an 8 plus with 11.x.y x<2 anyway. Hah, but anxious to see what Cydia themes/apps will even work on iOS 11 or if they'll get updated.

Happy jailbreaking in the New Year everyone! :)

Well, I hate to spoil your new year, but it officially qualifies as a failbreak; it needs a developer account.
That makes it vulnerable to Apple intervention because of breach of terms and conditions of developer account.

Besides that it is semi-tethered, needs a new certificate every 7 days and maybe most important for now it has hardly been tested in the wild as most people have not used it because of lack of substrate and Cydia support.

The warning by the dev also explicitly says it may turn out to be a dud if it is unstable.

Pandora is said not to release the new JB, the 32bit JB is in practical sense all but useless to the broad public, private JB usually are dev only and again a failbreak.

Again JBing has become more restricted going from untethered, to semi-tethered and now to a dev account jailbreak with above mentioned risks.

Figures, I got all excited but this seems very far from being ready for public release.
I'm still on 10.3.3 and would love an untether jb.
I won't bother with semitethered releases that need to be redone every 7 days and dev only falbreaks:(

It's definitely a shame but it doesn't spoil my new year or anything else. I shrugged my shoulders and updated to 11.2.5 beta shortly after the news broke that this was possible as I was pretty sure it wasn't going to be anything worth waiting for.

I can't begin to express how badly I want a legitimate dark mode on my X but outside of that I've pretty much run out of reasons to jailbreak. I'm more keen on riding the beta waves as they come.

You only need a developer account for Liberios as it stands right now in beta, if you don't want to keep reinstalling the liberios app again after each week, once the certificate expires. Otherwise, you don't really need a developer account.

Also, speaking of those who feel the jailbreak picture doesn't look that promising, now yet another promising jailbreak called c0f3 using several exploits is out in beta for ios 10 to 11.1.2. It installs Cydia, but not mobile substrate (because it's not updated yet).

I think several of these jailbreaks for 10.x.x and 11.x.y are going to be greatly improved upon and we may have some choice as to which to use. So, no upgrade to 11.2.x for me! But then, I still like to jailbreak and I believe it's worth it.

Quick question, I haven't seen this explicitly answered. IS the jailbreak ready for average user? Or is it still command line/developer mode?

It is not ready.

I greatly appreciate Sauriks work but Cydia is commercial venue, right now he might be loosing money on it but the ecosystem also earned him money, donating goes to far I think.

I have donated for JBs in the past but only for true free efforts.

Thanks!

Also, agreed on the donating. Sales from Cydia's store were subject to the same guidelines as the AppStore (70:30). So Saurik made money to support Cydia.

Eric I’m on 11.1 how do I make it where my phone won’t update on it’s on? I figured I’d ask you since you know quite a bit about jail breaking.

What are the chances of a jailbreak for 11.2? Unfortunately I upgraded before I caught wind of this. Is there no way to know? possible? impossible and wont happen?

Won’t happen or atleast for a very long time. From all the research I’ve done anyway. You would be better off updating to 11.2.2 so you can get the extra security.

Just didn’t want him to get his hopes up. Considering he should just update to 11.2.2 for security problem. No since an taking chances like the rest of us. Since he has nothen to gain like the rest of us on 11-11.1.2

Yeah I tend to agree with your assessment

Plus I think all 11.2.x are as exploitable or not exploitable, barring Spectre

But I don’t see how Spectre could be utilized to gain root access for a jb anyways so...

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll go ahead and update.

No problem man. Wish there was still a way to downgrade. My girlfriend’s iPhone was on 11.2 so I went ahead updated her to. Wish I could’ve downgraded it in time. If you did a warranty replacement through Apple you might find one 11-11.1.2 that’s what I had to do since my speaker was messing up.

ok, what is this JB good for, since mobilesubstrate does not work in ios11? guess the 'jailbreaking is dead' people are right after all... I have my 2 devices on 11.1.2 and i'm yet to touch this failbreak :p
