St. Petersburg Fire Rescue investigated and ruled it as "undetermined". What was newly revealed is that the owner not only left the phone charging unattended but also left the vehicle running unattended with AC on. Big red flag because nobody with common sense would do that especially in hot Florida weather and knowing that Jeep Cherakee has been recalled for fire risk.

So what about the other 95 confirmed cases?

He doesn't as he is right. There are 92 confirmed cases of the phones catching fire. Even if the Jeep wasn't one of them, there are 91 others.

Actually no. Those stats were including people saying their phone was overheating, as in "My phone is getting very hot while charging." Btw, the Note 7 actually overheating or being the cause of any damage in those cases has not been confirmed, it's the actual reporting of "overheating" that was confirmed. Not that they were actually truly having overheating issues due to defect. Big difference. That's it. Up until now, this jeep fire was one of those "confirmed" cases. All cases have not been investigated. Regardless, Samsung has made an official statement and acted appropriately. I have both my replacements and all is good. Now let's see what fix all those MILLIONS effected by touch disease, error 53, and now that incredibly annoying hissing iPhones have. My guess is, they'll have no fix. Its It's the Apple way.

We'll be seeing more cases of scams like this without doubt. Next up, the guy that claimed his garage "blew up."

You do know that logic has no place in this discussion?

Undetermined doesn't mean it wasn't the Note 7. And your AC theory is incorrect because the fire clearly originated from the cabin, not from the engine bay. And that's not how cars work in general.

That Jeep recall is in regards to the car struck at high speeds from the rear, causing a gas tank puncture. I wonder if you bothered to research that before you climbed onto the "Jeep sux" bandwagon in clear biased defence of Samsung. In your own words,

Sorry, your favourite company in the whole wide world still screwed up and this horrible product is still on them. Total QA disaster, but their PR is doing well thanks to an ample army of apologists.

As the deflections get smoother and smoother...

The entire thing is beyond silly, what is it you guys are arguing? Seriously, what specifically are you arguing? That Samsung handled the recall poorly? No one is arguing that they didn't. My god how many threads and pages do we have on this stuff already? It's really getting to be quite sad and annoying every time a new thread pops up with the same non-arguments and stupidity.

Id like to know some of what you are alluding to as well. what error 53 for example has anything to do with this is beyond me.

He was noting that the number of incidents was the reported number of incidents, not the reporting of confirmed incidents due specifically to the battery. OK, so what's to dispute? Alright he can put up his source and you can examine it to see if it's reliable, great. So what have you accomplished? Which point did you want to make that you made? Which argument that you wanted to win did you win? Samsung made a battery which has a chance to overheat, explode, melt, whatever. Samsung handled the recall poorly. Samsung is now officially recalling and replacing these. What was your point again?

My point is The deflections about "error 53" and "touch disease" have nothing to do with this. What is your point?

He's comparing what Apple will do with their issues versus what Samsung has done. Granted I agree they are not on the same level due to safety, but it's his opinion and the comparison he chooses to make. You can't dictate to consumers what comparison's they will or will not make. Heck the vast majority of Note 7 owners haven't even returned their phone, maybe they decided they would rather risk exploding than having an iPhone, lol. No I'm just kind of kidding there. But we are just running in circles here as you thought I was referring to that. Dang I'm bummed I got caught in this idiot's contest of arguing over nothing. I'll take my leave now, carry on, maybe open another hundred threads.

Are the android trolls/apologists/defenders as bad in the iphone boards as the iphone trolls/apologists/defenders are in this section?

I for one am glad we have a thread for this, not sure that the other 237 Note battery threads would have covered it

So posting in an open forum will get varied responses and opinions. This is my opinion that Comparing corporate responses form error 53 to an essentially exploding phone is a deflection. That's my opinion.

Oh I'm not debating your opinion, I may not agree with it, but I can't discount it as it's your opinion. It just wasn't clear when you first replied to my post, I didn't know what you were talking about. So we'll chalk it up to a misunderstanding, carry on.

WRONG.

According to the CPSC, "Samsung has received 92 reports of the batteries overheating in the U.S., including 26 reports of burns and 55 reports of property damage, including fires in cars and a garage." http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/samsung-note7-official-government-recall/story?id=42119002

Confirmed. That is a FACT. Not just majority saying their phones are getting hot or overheating. The CPSC takes it serious and not just stuff like my phone is getting hot.

The HISS is nothing to worry about like all the reports on it. It doesn't catch things on fire. Keep trying to talk BS you have no clue about to try and defend your precious Android POS.

Reported cases don't become confirmed cases until they're investigated by professionals.

Nobody is denying that these reported cases didn't happen but that some were suspicious from the beginning and that an investigation is needed to determine the cause. The Jeep incident is one of the more questionable ones and now it's confirmed that it's "undetermined".

We just have to wait for conformation on the other suspicious ones like the construction worker injury that shouldn't be worse than something like this.

Since many of the original reporting news media haven't bothered to provide updates this serves as a place to find out.

Besides recalls, why isn't it common sense to leave a phone charging and a car running unattended?

Do you mean why it's common sense not to do those? If you live in an area with worse than national average property crime rate (68.1 vs 43.5) why risk getting both your new phone and Jeep stolen by leaving them unattended and running? Plus, story didn't add up since there was quick blame on the phone for the Jeep fire but it was left charging unattended inside? Also, Jeep has been subjected to recall for fire risk but left running unattended with AC load in hot weather and no moving air to prevent it from overheating? Another thing, if furniture was being unloaded why was it parked so far away from the house compared to his neighbor? Most people would park it closer in the shade so less manual work. Burn the Jeep without burning down the house?

So...basically just lots of attempts at potential circumstantial questions (not even evidence) none of which really demonstrate anything one way or another, or really just plain anything.

Man o man, reading comprehension fail to the max, or should I say to the KillaMax. ;)

So what's worse? A defective battery that you know not to use until you get a replacement, after which all is good. Or issues like touch disease and that hissing that kills the user experience. And your only recourse is a class action lawsuit? Yup, sounds like an amazing user experience.
