I used to want to play Myst soooo freaking badly and couldn't because my parents refused to get a computer. They didn't see a use for one (even though I wanted to be a computer programmer, go figure : / )
Anyway I finally got my hands on the game when it came out for Sega Saturn and LOVED it. Its a classic.
Myst just managed to destroy the text adventure games that really spurred one's imagination. It's like reading the book or watching a movie.
Try Zork (now over 30 years old), which I conveniently have compiled for OS X on my website at http://almy.us/dungeon.html
Myst was still entertaining, but it did have a very lonely feel about it a bit like going into Second Life and finding that there's no one else logged in.
Now if only they'd bring out Lemmings on iOS!

Someone tried. He had it pretty much finished before getting a cease and desist, and never ended up submitting it.
Well, if any of you are into modern adventure style games with no real emphasis on action. Check out the Penumbra games and Amnesia. Yes they're horror themed, but, it's as close to an old walk around adventure game as you can get these days.
Yes I remember...
