I have a feeling that I might have broken my Reminders widgets by renaming the default "Reminders" list to something else...

I have a small widget on my homescreen that still works with my Today list, but if I try and create any new Reminders widget it just shows nothing in the preview and the widget is dead after I add it. It simply opens the app.

If I go and try to edit the currently working widget I cannot choose a different list to display. When hit the list selector it does nothing.

I have restarted my phone a couple times to see if that resolved the issue. Nope.

iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 17.0.2

Same problem here :(

Since upgrading to ios17 (now 17.02 on my iphone 15) my widget app does not work it is completly blank and you cant edit it in edit screen mode.

I have removed the widget, deleted the reminders app, rebooted, reinstalled the app, reinstalled the widget and same behavior its just blank if i touch it, it opens the Reminder app, no interactive content, not showing any of my lists, nothing. No settings option either. What else can be done?

Yeah, it's weird that it removes the ability to customize the widget as well. Hopefully Apple gets it fixed in the next update. I JUST STARTED USING REMINDERS ...quite the onboarding experience. ;)

So happy I’ve found this tread ! I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why I couldn’t get the Reminders widget to work on iPhone.
It works fine on my iPad ..
At least I’m not alone in that boat 😥

It looks like this issue is only for iPhone 15s and Pros. I had a look at my husbands XS and widget is “normal” if he wants to add it.

Please send feedback to 

For me, the widget is ‘broken’ in a different way: unavailable.

And I’m not the only one, it appears:

Similar to @Yptcn the bug appears to probably be iPhone 15 series specific (somehow). My brother is able to find, add, and use the widget no problem on his XR running iOS 17.

P.S. It is fine on my iPads.

Was hoping iOS 17.1 was going to fix this ...currently thinking about using a different app altogether for my reminders now. :/

Aye. On the 'Today' tab, the badge count will just not work unless I toggle reminders off/on in iCloud.

its annoying i use reminders all the time and not having the widget is a pain.
Anyone found a workaround yet?
I am using the Fantastical widget for now its ok but much prefer the Apple Reminders one.

I did an encrypted backup to my Mac last night and erased my iPhone/restored. It still didn’t fix the issue for me. 😭

I did get mine PARTIALLY working again. I tried booting my iPhone into safe mode by holding down the volume down button during reboot. (Honestly can’t tell if that did anything or not, everything still looked the same) BuT, when I make a new reminders widget the “Reminders” list now does show up in the widget.

My problem is that I do not want my main reminders list shown. I want my custom “Today” list. When I turn the widget around to choose a different list the dropdown does not function at all. No way to change the list…

Same issue.. tried:
- Complete reset and load apps one by one
- Reset and restore
- Reset network settings (some guy on Reddit claimed that worked)

No lucky, blank widget

No lock screen solution but did create a Fantastical widget with just todays tasks and it seems to work fine.

Do you have to subscribe to get basic widget functionality in Fantastical?

Not sure... I believe the free version only limits you to one calendar, so it may well work.

Give it a try and report back. Or do a month to month sub until Apple resolves this

They force you to make an account so I was trying to see if anyone else already knew before I signed up for nothing. I’m not in a spot where I’ll be paying for that one function …I literally just started using reminders when I got my new iPhone.

I am really disappointed that this has not been fixed yet. I am a big reminders user and interactive widgets make life a lot easier.

Don't understand why Fantastical widgets work fine but Apple cannot get their own working?

15 Pro max BTW

It worked for me too. And it still works if I turn bold text back on 😳🤔

EDIT : I tried turning my phone of and then back again and the issue is back and I can’t get it to work again….

EDIT 2 : It started working again after a hard reboot.
