I'll never understand why anyone would get any tech product engraved. That seems pointless

I get why people do it, like the off chance you lose it and hope someone will return it to you, or if it's a personal gift. But it ruins resale sale. It depends on what people value more.

Just take a small price hit. You run the risk of really making it worse. Also, if they loose it, it's possible it would be returned back to you. :)

I have a laser cutter and engraved a lot of my apple products. Just find someone with a laser or find a maker space or even check a library and draw a small rounded rectangle to cover that engraving up. If done properly it shouldn't look bad at all.

My Touch. That was the reason. Now, well, I can't sell it unless I get my info off of it.

It's a (PRODUCT)RED model, and the text is black, but I can't feel the lettering. Strange... I thought I could scrape the lettering off. Hmm... I wonder how deep the color goes.

If you ever need or want to sell it down the road, it can negatively affect the resale value and make it more difficult to sell as it's a potential turn off to buyers.
This true. But if you engraved it with a smart quote or saying with broader appeal (like “Think Different” for example) it could attract some buyers.
