Yes, because nothing screams "geek bragging rights" more than someone who suggests he'd be "fine with 4GB RAM and the lowliest i5".

I'm not going to rehash the SSD vs. HDD debate, which is ridiculous that we're even discussing at this point. It's been explained a million times. Users who think SSD's are just about boot times and launching apps do not understand the overall system performance ramifications of an HDD and what a bottleneck that is.

If the OP doesn't care about performance, I don't know why they're bothered to start the thread. Any computer on the market (and any computer of the last five years) is perfectly capable of running basic office apps.

There are two kinds of people. Those who have tried full SSD's and those who have not. Hybrid drives? PUUULLLEEEAASSEE! What a joke. A lawyer is obsessing over a few hundred here and there and even considering getting old technology? What is up with that? This is 2015 folks. Get a grip.

And whoever said 4GB of ram will be of help to anyone is just wrong.

The spinner Mac mini is a joke computer. A well equipped Mac mini with a proper SSD is the opposite. It makes THAT much difference.

I don't think we need to get so heated, but I do think people underestimate how much better a SSD is than a HD. The entire system is faster. We have some eight year old PCs at work that we were ready to replace, but didn't quite have the money (nonprofit). Switched all the drives for a $50 SSD and they're running faster than when they were new.

This thread has gone way off topic, and only a few of you have been helpful. To those who have kept thing positive, I thank you.

I won't be visiting the thread anymore, as I've only received a few real answers to my questions (the rest is bickering and discussion of things not brought up by me, the OP).

As such, the mods can close it or whatever they wish to do with it.

In the end, I'll simply be ordering the mac mini and testing it for a week. I don't like the idea of playing this "try and return if you don' like it" game, but I don't see another option at this time.
