Report says Samsung to Kill Off Note Brand

It not that easy, in my opinion. The device is called the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. I bet Samsung wishes it would have called the line the Samsung Note X (1, 2, etc.) in order not to impact the rest of the Galaxy brand.

But even so, dropping a brand like that won't make customers forget, especially with the internet reminding everyone everyday about the explosive devices.

If true I hope in the future they still release a product with a large screen and a stylus even if it goes by different branding. I think there is still a huge market for a product like the Note.

I'd be shocked to see the 'Note' brand on a Samsung phone next year, but I'd be equally shocked if Samsung doesn't offer a 'Note style' device (I'm taking Galaxy S8 Pro in the 'new Note name pool' ;)). I don't think there is a huge market for a product like the Note, else we'd see more smartphones with a stylus from other manufacturers. That being said, that particular market would be hugely underserved if Samsung doesn't make another 'Note style' smartphone.

WHAT A FREAKING SHAME!!!!!! There is not a single phone in existence which can come close to the Note series, not one. To lose out on such an incredible piece of technology is a huge blow to technology in general IMO. Samsung pushed other phone makers to new limits, especially the last couple of years. Even the iPhone 8 would not be such a big deal if it wasn't for Samsung IMO.

My hope is that they incorporate the digitizer/s pen into the larger S8. It's just a much larger market, and they could really show consumers what the spen means.

It's big... really big right now.

But Samsung like Apple has a very big business with plenty of loyalists. In time this will fade, it won't take several years either.

Apple lovers prefer to say Samsung rushed carelessly to market. Not true.

It could happen to any manufacturer, Samsung customers understand that.

They'll be back... :D

I really hope they are, I owned the Note 7 for a month and a half before the $&*t hit the fan and I loved it, being an iPhone user all my life I had some gripes with the android OS but the phone itself was so awesome that I was going to put up with it. I want to see Samsung succeed so they can push apple to innovate so we the consumer can win....but let's be honest here they rushed the phone in order to beat the "boring" iPhone 7 to the market, and at first it was looking like a great strategy because this was going to take off and be a huge selling device, but we all know what happened next. I mean I can't say that I blame them, once they saw that apple wasn't changing the iPhone design they saw it as an opportunity to entice some apple customers and it was working so well.

The nature of my business and personal involvement with smartphones of all platforms is such that I'm fortunate to receive a very high volume of first hand feedback from owners of said devices.

While I'm not shocked, I am positively impressed with the vast number of Note 7 owners that were very reluctant to give up their Note 7. In turn these same owners are highly committed to buying a new replacement Samsung Note when and if that materializes.

What the Note 7 recall proved was just how many seriously loyal customers Samsung has. Nothing Apple loving Samsung haters say, has dampened that. Even the public polls are misleading. Samsung will survive and prosper.

They may have to as even as an avid Note user even I would be skeptical on a Note 8. Better believe I'd wait 1-2 months of others using them before I'd buy.

It's a shame really as I remember all the Note 7 commercials during the Olympics.

Considering the number of people who fly and heard the announcements about turning off your note 7.....yes.

Honestly not sure dropping note 7 will suddenly make people forget. The average customer only sees that Samsung phones blow up. Not note 7.

Considering people with no real tech knowledge are aware of it and talk about it says people will not forget. Certainly when it comes to carriers promoting future Samsung phones. It will take a while to get the average customer to trust them. Techie people? Yeah they will move on but the average customer won’t. Their sales will see a real decrease for the time being.

How many Note related threads do people need? The Note 7 is done for now and that's it, no need to discuss why and what.

Samsung will release another Note, hopefully this time they'll take their time and make sure the R&D has their stuff covered. It's like when all that bend and antenna problems happened with Apple people talked about it endlessly and after a while it was forgotten.

If Samsung nails the S8 people will buy it regardless. Chances are it's going to wipe the floor with every 2016 flagship because Samsung needs an absolute beast they know it the market knows it.
