I thought about that. Hmm. But so much that is there is from iTunes. Hmm...
The voodoo that youdoo...
There is a way to 'rebuild' that doesn't involve reloading, but when it detonated, it blew up bad. Many tracks missing. I reloaded some from another system, and more tracks disappeared. Go big or go home...![]()
manuyally inspect your cash of music. Pick one missing tune and see if it still exists and plays as expected.I may try to rebuild the database ... I could spend weeks tracking down missing tracks. I guess I di have a lot of time on my hands. Just would rather be doing something else with my time...
I would not spend weeks trying to rebuild. I would pick the music I know I would listen to on regular or even semi-regular basis, and then proceed to sync whatever tunes may be missing from that list.I may try to rebuild the database. I had so many problems with my iTunes, I kept a 'pristine' database on one system, Just In Case. It needs to be updated, but I may be able to use it to 'seed' this machine.
Is having to rebuild the iTunes (now 'Music') database after a Big Sur update something people are having to do often?
I think my iPad has deleted, or hidden, some tracks since it was updated. Or so it seems. Weird... I ride with the iPad playing genre mixes, and I've noticed since the update the reduced tracks I'm hearing. I will look at it and see if that's true. I could spend weeks tracking down missing tracks. I guess I di have a lot of time on my hands. Just would rather be doing something else with my time...
May the force be with you, Pinky. It will take you approximately 68.25 weeks (3 min song average) to listen to the 22,944 songs at 24/7 usage, not that you were wondering. So, IMO, Apple Music is a fail. On the four macs I have, I have four different song totals.
System 1: 21,022
System 2: 22,944
System 3: 20,934
System 4: 21,252
Yikes...
I'm wiping the iPhone, and will see what happens. I just know that will be a 'script item' for whatever person I get at Apple to try to figure this out. As for the different song counts? Yikes. Just yikes... (The 'pristine system' is the one with the higher count. *shrug*)
You might want to delete 1 or 2 songs (at most) to make it more manageable to listen to .So you think I have too much music?
You are a wild flower, Pinky. Nothing wrong with that.I listen, usually, to genres of music on shuffle. I get some surprises occasionally, like I did pick up (accrete?) some aggressive rock at some point. That surprised me quite a bit actually. It bubbled up on an 'alternative' genre shuffle. SURPRISE!!!
But I've got a large classical collection, and every Jimmy Buffett album ever released, and Green Day, The Beatles, Counting Crows, Pearl Jam, Miles Davis, etc... Eclectic...
So far, 4 hours to backup my iPhone. WOW...
And, on music, I'm surprised how many 'albums' I have from some musicians. Like almost every Genesis album, Peter Gabriel, Enya, Aerosmith, The Cars, AC/DC, etc. Music is a drug. I guess I'm stocked with a variety.
