What you talking about? When I put music on it, I have to wait for it to 'index'? But I waited. A few minutes. No, it's been HOURS, and nothing changed. Or seemed like hours. Days even... AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
:) I understand this is frustrating...I am certainly no expert on Apple Music, but I would suspect that after loading all your songs, the system builds a database so that you can search on title, artist, genre etc. Assuming you loaded 22k songs in a relatively short period of time, I would expect that it could take a while for all those songs to index and build the database for searching etc. This is a fairly standard way of indexing content, wether that be pictures, documents, or other items that are searchable.

However, I could be totally wrong and music does not function this way. Best of luck getting things back to where you want them.

Glad you got it fixed! I have all sorts of issues syncing music to my phone with Catalina. They don't make it easy on those of us that still like to manage large libraries of local songs.

So, to wrap this up, it appears that the iPhone has to independently build a database, and update it. It takes HOURS, and in the interim, it just doesn't report the true count until it's done plodding through all of the music. I guess it makes sense, I was just surprised at how long it took, and how it didn't show a hint of what it was going through. I had no idea that it was furiously working to categorize the many tunes installed on it. Was it always so slow? I don't remember having that happen. I don't remember having access to a scant percentage of the content uploaded. I was riding, and put my iPhone on shuffle, and the choices were pathetic. But without wiping again, or doing anything more drastic, I appear to have most of my tunes on the iPhone, and the ride yesterday was filled with music I haven't heard in years.

It worked. Finally. It took a LONG time, to me. Wow...

Someone asked me if I had music on my AW. 'No. Why would I do that?' They shrugged. Yep...

Dump lots of content on the iPhone, and expect a long long long wait, and no indication how the process is going. I guess that's the part I don't get. They could be showing what's happening, rather than make (me) people think something is broken. *sigh*

ROCK ON!!!
I agree with you, Pinky. Apple should create a live update notification banner so that the user can see the progress of the syncing and transfer.
