So you spent $50 to return it because your router sucks, when you could have taken that $50 and bought a proper router?

Before you buy that cheap router, check the reviews! Many knock-off routers are horrendous with compatibility, especially with N implementations

The stupidity of these posts never ceases to amaze me.

I have more money in my router/wireless/network setup than you probably do in your computer. I have customers with Cisco equipment, you want to say that is cheap?

Actually forget that, it is a WIRELESS DEVICE meaning it should work anyplace there is wireless. If I can take my laptop or iPhone to over 30 different locations that have wireless and every single one of them works but the iPad does not, it is the iPad's problem.

Did you ever consider that some of us may actually make it out of the house and try to use it at other locations?

So have them swap it out for a brand new replacement/exchange. Not every Wifi iPad has Wifi issues you know.

The problem is, look at all of these ****ing scumbags who are using the "the wifi is broke" excuse so they can: A) Return the ipad because of buyers remorse for whatever damn reason. B) Trade up for the latest/greatest (ipad 3g). If people wanted the 3G from the start, why the **** would you waste time and get a Wifi only model from the start.

****ing prima-donna's have to sample the latest/greatest.

By being a prima-donna you've caused the international delay as well as the scarce domestic supply by buying something you knew full well that you were going to return for the better 3G model coming out.

Now people who legitimately wanted the Wifi model are going to have to wait longer now because of you prima-donna's.

Boo Hoo, its a free market, if you don't like to play in it....owell.

As a first time mac computing buyer, I don't have the confidence that I get another one, bring it home and it's the same issue, or that it creeps up later. I can tell you that I didn't have much of an issue the first few days, but now it's pretty constant. not sure if i just ignored all the signs because i was enamored with the product. But i've already wasted countless hours on the forums, and troubleshooting. I'd rather not, nor have the time to take it home, test, and if it is still not working, waste more time, go back to the store etc.

The level of frustration, and the "time is money" is my issue here. If apple came out and said they absolutely will be able to fix this via software, i'd hold on. but zero communication about a fix other than they are aware, doesn't give me any confidence.

My post wasn't directed at you. Apologies if it came across like that.

Just that there are so many of these "restocking fee" threads.

And it's all obvious why they're asking the question.

Free market? Do you even know what the hell you're talking about?

So much for the free market and restocking fees right?

Lemme guess, you're going to return your wifi ipad for a 3g correct?

Add another prima-donna to the list.

Meaning quit whining and crying because someone else got something and you didn't.

And yes I am returning mine for a 3G, was always the plan. I needed it to do some testing for an application so I bought one early. I had planned on paying on possibly paying the restocking fee but Apple launched it with a major flaw and now I will not pay one.

I say possibly because I needed one for each employee so when I returned it I was going to tell the manager that if he waived the restock I'd buy 4 3g's.

Free market has little to do with someone supposedly whining about not having something (which is not what he is doing). I'm not sure you're qualified to really speak to such a topic now.

What I find interesting is that you mention that you intended on returning the Wifi model all along and paying the restocking fee. Then you mention you won't be paying because Apple launched the device with a "major" flaw. Unfortunately for you this plan won't work. You'll be paying the restock fee because my guess is the problem is not prevalent with your device. Then you move onto say how you're going to buy 4 devices and that's how you'll get the restock fee waived. So which is it? You won't pay, you won't have to pay, or you'll have it waived? Really, no one cares what you're going to buy. I'm buying 6 3G iPads myself. Think I'm full of ****? It is likely that I am but this is the internet and like you I can BS my way through a post.

The problem is showing up in 30 percent of the devices I connect to. Why does everyone seem to think these are only used in the home?

The job I wanted a jump start on, actually to demo for a client some work we were doing as a proof of concept, was worth the restocking fee.

I would have told the manager that I would purchase the additional 4 if they waived the restock fee....if it worked it, it worked, if not as least I tried.

But no, due to the wifi problem I won't pay the restock fee because the device has failed me quite a few times at different locations where I have no control over what equipment they buy.

The free market comment was the guy was whining because people have bought a product so that others could not. Or that they should not have gone and bought a product they wanted just so they could return it later.

I bought it because I had a need and the restocking fee was worth the need. If Best Buy wants to take up the restocking fee issue then they should take it up with Apple because Apple produced a flawed product and gave a simple reason for anyone to return an iPad without a restocking fee.

I bought the product, it failed to work in the environment I needed it to work in, its going back, that simple. The 3G right now doesn't look like it will pose the same problem, but if it does then it's going back too.

Gonna have to call this out as a ridiculous statement. Imagine buying a PC and then HP tells everyone in order for it to work you have to buy an HP router and every coffee shop, library, office etc you visit you have to ask them to turn off security, reboot their router or buy an specific router? Just seems a bit apple fanboy to think that this is a solution. If it were PC no way people would be this patient.
Wifi is a standard protocol that even apple has to abide by.

Sorry, but you are dead wrong.
Settle down. I think many of the "my iPad doesn't work!" are just people who don't know what they are doing. If they have a good router that is properly setup and it still doesn't work... then yes there is a damn good chance the iPad is defective. Maybe this wasn't the place to make the point. I'm just sick of hearing "it doesn't work" and their only troubleshooting is "my MBP and iPhone work, the iPad must be broken."

Many people ran out 3-4 years ago and got a fancy "N" router when they first came out. Many people's router are probably only "draft N" approved. My hypothesis is the problems have to do with how the router and the iPad deal with the N standard's way of dealing with interference (I assume the iPad is approved on the final N standard). IMO that's why many people's issues with dual band routers are solved my naming the networks separately. Just a guess.

Is there a master list of WiFi connectivity issues anywhere? Like a list of routers, security settings, and other network info?

Seriously, stop with the ****ing "wifi is defective" ********. You're reeking of this ********.

You first mention that you had no problem paying re-stocking fees because of this "magical need" you had. You then backtrack and say you're not going to pay re-stocking fees and that Apple should take care of that.

You just proved my point of prima-donna's. You're a Grade A example of that.
