The best way to get Apple 'jump on their high horses' would be to return as many Imac's as possible. That's the only way they will loose money. They are only trying to buy time, do not keep your piss filled Imac's.

Returning for full refund my 6th Imac.

'Apples Tech' switched me to 'Apple Relation rep' only because I made numerous complaints on 6 different Imac. Make sure to register every computer in a case number with apple tech.

I'm on my 5th return myself.

Anyway, why would you say "that's the only way they will loose money."? This is not the point of returning. Didn't you know, the more Apple will loose money, the more they will start charging more in return? That's how it goes. We are hoping this will get resolved quickly for the sake of us consumers.

Maybe so! but I rather pay a ridiculous amount of money for a "pristine" product out of the box. I will not settle for a fixer upper.

Don't mean to bump thread but, I don't think Apple is about to boost the prices up when their reputation is slowly taking a hit whit all those defective products. If one thing they should compensate to gain the trust with 6th time buyers like myself.

I just don't understand this. Why on earth would you send in your machine before they have a 'fix' for this issue. What sense does that make? Do you really think that the fifth time your machine will be any different before they have a fix for the 'yellowing issue'?

If I was Apple I would say three returns and thats it, and give you a refund. Which is apparently what they are doing now. Try again later when we have a solution for your problem. Seriously. You can't just use it until they fix this. I can see if you are a professional photographer, but how many are you are? Not many is my guess.

The more returns they have, the busier they are and longer it will take to fix the yellowing issue. Less returns, less busy. Quicker solution to the problem.

Just wait until they fix the yellowing screens and they are no longer being shipped like someone took a piss on them. Before you return them for a new one.

Last I checked, urinating into the computer will ruin your ability to return it (and the computer).

Common lol, you serious lol!

Compensation is allegedly happening. Even some users here have posted that they were offered the 15% on top of their purchase price, and wisely took that deal. I'd buy a used Mac Mini with that $300 if you desperately needed a computer, and then wait a little bit and get an iMac when these problems are sorted out.

Neither did anyone else, they paid the same as you. So by sending in for a 6th time, your expecting different results when the problem has not been fixed yet?
That is like trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole over and over again.

Please explain how this makes any sense.

I guess I was hoping for a good one as some of the others seemed to have fallen on!

So i guess your saying they are all defective then?

I am bringing it back tomorow and Apple will keep my file open and will contact me when a fix is scheduled.

They also will give me compensation...they offered 4 Gg of extra RAM...but I wanted more, so they are looking in to that....

A customer does not have a 'solution to their problem' until they receive their mac back and in perfect working order. Not when Apple fixes the panels at the factory.

In order for someone having problems to get a replacement on their imac, they have to send it in, wait, and get shipped a new one without the problems, once they have fixed the panels.

The more they have to have returned and shipped out will determine when your get your mac, two weeks, three weeks etc.

Less imacs they have to fix and send out, the shorter the wait time. A customer does not have their problem 'fixed' until they receive their fixed machine. Regardless of when Apple fixes the 'yellowing' problem at the factory. Can you say 'Backlog'.

So yes, less returns, less imacs need fixed the quicker the new ones will be shipped out and to the customers. Do you actually know how much resources it takes to process a return? It takes time and creates a backlog if more people do what you are doing.

It seems that most are. Not worth it to play Russian roulette. Take the extra money and run. Or take the Ram and see if you can keep your current imac until they have fix and receive a brand new one in a few weeks or how ever long it takes to fix the screens.

DUDE, thats your opinion, but I don't think 6 Imacs will make a big difference on your 'FIX'.

But if 500 000 returns their Imacs 6 times (3 000 000) that's a lot of faulty units don't you think?

Quality Control must be a good thing at Apple!

Anyways, this is a dilemma that Apple will have to fix soon!

Or they will be loosing customers fast. News is spreading slowly....

They should get this under control.

to marco12345:

I think any discerning forum reader can see that you are upset about your alleged 6 iMac's with problems now, but you don't need to bump your own threads and create 5 different topics. A little overzealous don't you think? Or have you been hired to go **** on Apple products in messageboards?

Having said that...

I'll be holding off on my purchase of my first iMac until they start to have a quicker turnaround time. I'm pretty sure there are some embarrassed people working at Apple, to see the sheer number of units returned thus far.

Makes me wonder when an iMac larger than 27" could ever be a possibility.

dont be silly its only a iMac , why should apple be bothered about , its not a iphone and not a ipod ,even it does look like a giant ipad , so i guess high end computers are not something apple wants in their future lineup
gadgets are the future and apple jumps on this wagon regardless if that means pissing of some customers , the iphones and ipods and future sales of ipads create more then enough profits to keep apple alive, they dont have to be worried about some faulty iMacs

Listen, DUDE.;)

It isn't my FIX. And it isn't my opinion. Just basic stuff. And yes there are alot of faulty units. And all of them take time to return and replace. It is a time consuming process.

This flew right over your head. Swooosh.
How smart is it to hand in your imac five times before they have a "fix' for the problem and all the while expecting a different result.

just forget these iMacs and buy a eMac 1.42 ,they work perfectly and have a nice bright screen without dead pixels and without yellow tinge and without flickering ,they run windows too under virtual pc , so in one word a perfect computer , cant wish for more , connected another 17 " monitor to it installed screen spanning doctor and have now 33" in total thats more then enough and still fits under the sloping roof

i thought about iMacs ,but they all apart from the imac g3 are taller then the eMac, they bang on the roof , and the exit for hot air is blocked due to its location ,so iMacs would overheat very quickly on my desk

Based on what data exactly? Do you actually think getting a problem-free iMac is akin to playing Russian Roulette??

How many problem iMacs have you personally taken delivery of?

Hmm. Lets see 6 out of 11 for my business and one for my home. 6 of which were 27 inch imacs and 4 out of the 6 have the 'yellowing' of the screen. Two 21.5 inc-hers also have it. The one year old mac pros that my graphic designers use with their 30 inch CD are still going strong in comparison.

So to answer your question, quite a few. I have two 27 inch imacs that are perfect, the rest have the yellowing issue. The 21.5 inch at my house is also perfect but I might decide to switch the 21.5 with one of the perfect i5 I have at the office.

So to answer your question, quite a few.

Thank you, that's why I asked.

Well, I didn't want to believe that I was that lucky with my own i7 but I may have to now and based on your experience I do understand your Russian Roulette reference now.

At least you DO know that there are tinge-free iMacs out there and I appreciate that. Nothing pisses me off more than the people that claim ALL of the new iMacs have a tinge and the reason some people say theirs doesn't is because they're too dumb to recognize it.

Sorry if I came off a little accusatory. I'm getting a little gunshy in here.

I'm definitely no Apple apologist. Maybe Steve Jobs was too busy making backdoor deals with book publishers (that will end up driving up prices for consumers by 30% on ALL readers) for his iPad to have put any attention on QC for the new iMacs. He doesn't care about consumers so long as he can sell an S-load of iPads.

The yellow tinge and other problems on the new iMacs are definitely an embarassment and Apple better sort it out in a hurry.

everybody....return your 27" imac's to "hurt" apple...

thats never going to happen to a company with billions in the bank. at most it will be a micro scoping accounting issue.
