I think Apple are all in for mini-led as a stop gap on the road to micro-led. You will see it on the Macbooks next.
I definitely believe they will use this tech in their cheaper products. Not on the premium ones. We'll see what happens

No chance I’m returning this M1 beast and gorgeous mini led display. 😜😍 way better than oled, without all the trade offs you get with oled.

Lightning, scary quick, smoother than ever before. 👇😍😃

one does not return the ultimate 😎

Now if there was just some software that really harnessed the power, outside of Geekbench.

It's not really HDR unless it's 10-bit, that's my biggest complaint. I can see the difference in colour gamut and colour volume vs my LG OLED TV. Otherwise I think mini led is actually a decent compromise for now, better contrast and blacks than I expected.

A bright OLED at this size would put out a ton of heat. Sony needs to use heatsinks and stuff to drive the A9H to 1350 nits. I don't think we've seen any in this size range that can do 1000+ nits.

The HDR of this display blows me away. I have an LG C9 OLED TV which of course doesn't suffer from blooming, but the peak brightness of the 12.9" is pretty insane.
Watching "For all mankind" in my bed, in the dark, makes me squint my eyes because it feels like looking into the sun. Sure, when you have a black background and some white text you'll notice the background lights, but I don't care

So many are using the 12.9 with the keyboard ? Tried both today and just holding in hand the 12.9 is heavy af. Ordered both to play around (because I want to use it for Netflix when my GF is watching TV) but idk if I get used to the size

Actually the improvement in contrast ratio in regular day-to-day usage (non-video) is pretty noticeable.

That’s encouraging. I have one that should be here on Wednesday, but I keep questioning whether I should order an Apple-refurbished 2018 12.9 instead.
