Almost spot on, but the issue here is the fact that you have to constantly remove the ASKF when not in use due to weight and comfort, it is irritating. The Smart Folio is also much worse than the Smart Cover. Heavier and more awkward. The ASK and Smart Cover was a much more elegant solution, and didn't require removal to comfortably use the iPad when it wasn't in use. I never used a 3rd party bluetooth keyboard when I had the 10.5" iPP (I sold that to get the 11" in the first place - have had my iPad mini 4 since it was released). I was able to borrow one for testing out with my mini, and was very pleasantly surprised. Spent a whole day writing an ongoing proposal with it (connected to external monitor). Am now researching keyboards.
Two seconds to remove the ASK or put it back on isn't really a negative for me, but I can understand how that might be cumbersome for some. Just as much as turning on a BT keyboard, connecting to it, and limiting your iPad usage to a desk might be to others.

I am concerned about pointless waste, not virtue signaling.
Valid point, in this instance where is the waste? As he pointed out, returned Apple products are not dumped into a landfill like many companies do. A little nuance is required not broad brush strokes

I wouldn’t have a problem removing the keyboard (just don’t particularly like the way the folio is done, so I haven’t purchased it - much prefer the ASK), but all I have to do for my bluetooth keyboard to be up and running is hit a key or two, and it automatically connects - takes less than a second.

I would purchase an ASK for my 11” pro in a flash, but my setup at my desk is really great, and my lightweight case/cover can stay on all the time in the stand (I have a stand to bring the iPP to a nice viewing level). When I want to take my iPad with me, all I have to do is pick it up and flip the cover and it’s ready to throw in a purse.

Waste is discarded packaging, transportation, and and refurbishment. Put that
in your landfill.
