Such a tough decision for me!!!!

Do you return your puppy to get another puppy with laser beams that cost 130 dollars to activate and 30 per month to use?

I have laser beams on my phone already.

Just return my iPad due to its firmware problem. (without restocking fee) It was a 64g wifi. So I am now officially joining the waiting-my-32gb--3g-ipad campaign, but will still use mywi whenever possible. :) No point to pay extra 30 unless absolutely necessary.

sigh...have to stare at the lonely case for a while I guess.:apple:

What firmware problem? Just looking for any excuse I can find to avoid this restocking fee!

The ONLY guaranteed financial hit of the 3G iPad is the $130 upfront fee.

People with 3G iPads can still hack and tether to their iPhones - every single time they want, and never, EVER, pay AT&T's $15, or $30 data plan. EVER. In the event they can't tether - for whatever reason - then and only then, and for only those times, they activate the iPad's 3G.

In the end the only guaranteed loss is $130, minus the higher resale value the device brings in ... say $65.

$65 to have 3G whenever or IF ever you can't tether, even if never ...?

As Desmond would say: "C'mon, brotha..."

They run diagnose tools on the ipad and found there are data corruption on it. Since I am their biz customer and, with a little persuasion, they are kind enough to allow me to return it. Thanks apple :)

I have found all the comments very interesting in this thread. One person said, to each his own, and that is how I feel.

For me I have a 32gb WiFi iPad and tether for 3G access when wireless is not available. I already have a Mophie Juice Pack Air which I hadn't been using much so for the time being I will put that on my iPhone and see what kind of battery life I get when tethered. I don't plan to be tethered a lot because most places I go have wifi access and truthfully, I am a homebody. I will be using it outside at home but I already have tested WiFi access in the pool area and it is fine.

As for quickly checking email and thinking I have to tether my iPhone to the iPad is sort of redundant to me. I just check it on my iPhone. Same with checking my Twitter feed or RSS feeds I follow. I can do that quickly on my iPhone and use the iPad when I want to browse the net, read a book (yep, I'm using iBooks and Kindle), watch a movie and so forth. As someone else said, I will use the iPad for the content that I have loaded onto it more, the iPhone for quick check of things.

So, I am happy with my decision. But, I quite understand those who are waiting for the 3G. I also agree that there will be people dumping their WiFi versions so they can get the 3G version just as there will be plenty of people dumping their 1st generation iPad when the 2nd comes out (like me more than likely...I have to have the latest).

And, for those waiting for your 3G you will not be disappointed, it is a wonderful piece of machinery!
