Returning my iMac due to slow AirPort ok?

Hi, no bluetooth devices, one 1 analogue cordless phone.

My friend has come over with his identical iMac, and he is still taking a few seconds to connect.

Create a new user and see if you still have the same problem, if you don't kill all the network/airport/wireless preferences in your main account.

I dont understand how the new iMac should have a problem with a Netgear router, when the other macs in the house have no problems at all!

this afternoon, i have a friend coming over with a linksys router, so i will see if i have any problems with that,

can someone explain why there might be a compatibility issue between iMac and netgear?
