And you should just give it a rest...Ive seen a couple of these posts from you now and honestly its a bit much. The guy is on notebook #6! Its a real issue, get over yourself.

I am entitled to voice my opinion and I too have seen a few threads now from others trying to rip Apple off in one way or another to swap their MBP for a C2D and honestly I find that a bit much, sickening in fact as we the genuine customers end up paying for all this in the end.

of course you have the right to voice your opinion - but it seems that you have to put other ppl's opinions down to do so. Your posts do have quite a punitive nature to them.

Does it not piss you off people actively looking for reasons to get their MBP exchanged for C2D?

I'd say bimboles is just as much a "genuine" customer as anyone. After paying a couple grand on a laptop, I would not simply live with the problems either.
In fact, I returned my 10 day old refurb'd MBP for a refund and purchased the C2D MBP due to rings on the palm rest. If Apple is guaranteeing their product and will exchange it then it is Apple's decision. They can always say "enough" and THEN he has to live with it. But as long as they will work with him, then I applaud Apple for standing behind their product...

No it doesn't - if Apple or reseller decide they don't have a case - they won't get it swapped. It's up to Apple to decide - I'm personally not going to sit in judgement of someone else's misfortune with a product. I believe what the poster (bimboles?) says is her/his experience. We are not Apple, no need to lie to us.

I think Apple have to supply a fault-free product to someone who handed over cash in good faith.

Sorry, 'listening' for problems in your case.

Dude, please relax. You just dont know what kind of problems anyone else has/have with their machine and its not your job to know this, leave it to Apple. You seem to have some weird hangup on "people trying to screw Apple over" Stop it. If youve had to have your laptop returned/repaired 6 times there is quite likely an actual problem with it. Whats so hard to understand? From what you have posted it seems you take it personal...its a computer! The guy paid for it, it didnt work and therefore he is entitled to one that does. Ok?

I'm not sure how I could have been more loyal to Apple. I have had 5 opertunities to get a full refund, but due to my stupidity I have always decided to persist in the hope that the issues would soon be resolved.

I don't see how anyone can "screw Apple at the expense of geniune custormers" here.

You have all the right to do whatever according to your own interest and your own incentive, as long as it is not against the law. If you don't like a less-than-14-days-old MBP, you can return it with a 10% restocking fee. That's what it says in the returning policy. Apple chooses to charge this 10% for the hassle of getting back all the returned macs. So it is well compensated for that matter.

So what does Apple do with all the returned macs? They re-condition them, sell as a refurbished, and make some more money. Now what really is a problem with that?

A perfectly satisfied customer with a perfectly good product will find no reason to return it at the expense of the fee. A large stock of returned products will signal Apple to improve quality control. It is this difference in incentives that make the world moves.

I've had a CD MBP for 14 days and didn't like it. So I returned it for C2D version. Now people, if you are perfectly fine with your CD MBP, just do whatever you want so that you can live with it. You can buy a cooling pad , put your MBP in a fridge, or use it with ear plugs.

But let me tell you that the new MBP runs much quieter at a much much much cooler temp. I dont' care what they did to the system, but I am sure it is a much better notebook. I am running Parallels, Safari, ichat, skype, iPhoto, omnigraffle (under rosetta), and itunes playing in the background with a temperature reading at 45 c. A CD MBP would never be this cool. The fan speed is at the minimum of 2000 rpm, but I hardy hear anything even in a quiet room, if not putting my ear really close to the left speaker.

So I will say this again, GET A C2D MBP IF YOU CAN!

Well I tried but they said they would only repair it and that there was a waiting list of 2 weeks on repairs at the moment.

I was told that I could have had a replacement Rev A but they did not have any in stock and would not be getting any (not much help). I said I did not want a repair as my experience so far has led me to have no confidence in this Rev.

I was told to write a complaint letter to the manager.

After writing my letter to the Store Manager I noticed that this is currently my 6th faulty machine! Although to be fair 2 were replaced straight away in the store as I had checked them before leaving.

Well it's now 48hrs since I sent my complaint letter to the Regent Street store. How long do people think is a reasonable amount of time to wait? They did email me yesterday for my phone numbers, I replied straight away but have yet to hear from anyone.

Looks like complaining does work with Apple. Had a call from a store manager and he has invited me to come in on Saturday and have my faulty MBP replaced with a nice new C2D. Which is great because it means I don't have to cut my nose off despite my face and I will be purchasing a Mac Mini, iTV and a Touchscreen Ipod in the near future. :)

Buy a cooling pad like any other decent Apple customer and stop trying to screw the Corp and its genuine customers over.

Man, your talking like apple is your best friend. Apple is just another corporation out for nothing but the bottom line. This guy has gotten stuck with a screwed product 6 times, I say that he has a reason to complain. For all his troubles apple should give him a refund and a free comp!
