Those prices are really good.

$1549 1.6 HDD - $250 off
$2149 1.86 SSD - $350 off

I plan to pick up one of those for my daughter for her birthday in July. I absolutely love my rev B MBA with 1.86 and SSD.

I recommend everyone that wants an MBA, definitely go for the rev B MBA. Now the prices are much more affordable, making the deal better and closer to the original MBA refurbished units. Any rev B MBA is better than even the best original MBA at 1.8 GHz with SSD (check the xBench results).

I don't think this means anything in regards to a rev C MBA. I don't think this tells us there will be a new MBA in the short term nor long term. For all we know, the rev B MBA could be the last MBA ever???

Wow, we were discussing this on the other thread a few days ago. :)

I'm starting to think I won't wait for a Rev. C and go SSD at last!

Problem is that bringing one of those babies to Brazil on a fair price is always so complicated that I really dunno if I should wait for a Rev. C or not.

Damn, Apple is always making me go crazy with those decisions.

But I'm happy with these great news anyway! :D

Refurbished MBAs = NO LINES???

The rev B is really a solid computer. Unless you NEED 4 GB RAM or a 256 GB SSD, now is a great time to buy.

I would love if the rev C came out. Then I could give my daughter mine, and I could buy a new one. But seriously, I don't think rev B being available as refurbished means anything other than they must have the line problem fixed. According to everything we have read, a million MBAs have been returned with faulty displays. I think these refurbished MBAs will all be line free.

Scottsdale, I hope you are correct, I get my refurb 1.86 today!:D I ordered it yesterday at 4:30PM (Pacific!) and it's already on a truck for delivery! I had to get one after playing with a Rev B at my local store (Which still has 3 on display on the front table... had to mention as I know many have complained that the MBA is getting no love at other stores). The RevB is a huge difference over my CTO MBA/A 1.8/80GB which I sold on ebay for $1350. With $800 more I got a nice upgrade! I'll let you know if mine has the lines when I get it today... One of the MBA's at the store yesterday had a small hint of the lines... nothing super bad though. Crossing my fingers that the refurb B is perfect!;)

yes. Please post with your assessment of how good the refurb's display is. That's my one question before I look into the rev B. Thanks.

To be honest, they had not fixed it as of the 8th week of this year. My brand new machine does exhibit the lines problem. I am not sure if I want to get mired in the return/repair/replace cycle. I really do like the machine otherwise, and I still haven't figured out if it's a deal breaker. I was really hoping it wouldn't happen to me, and I had gone to the stores and looked and looked and didn't see it (or recognize it). I also didn't notice it first when I got the machine...

My idea would be that these refurbished rev B MBAs may have been sitting around since all the way back to the first week of November 2008. All that were returned with line problems... Apple hasn't sold the refurbished rev B MBAs for an unusually long time. Now, I would assume Apple finally got around to putting replacement displays in all of the problematic MBAs. And now can sell and ship out. That is the logic behind my idea.

Here's hoping they do ;-). I am more than a little bummed that are still selling new units with this issue, which leads me to believe you will be playing display roulette in the refurb market as well.

After comparing and looking at Sony VIAO TT and Z series, Dell Adamo, HP Voodoo Envy 133 and Lenovo X301, I ended up getting my dad this Macbook Air 1.86 with the 128GB ssd.

He travels alot for his business, so weight and portability are # 1 for him. Power (In his case, powerful enough to easily handle web browsing, word processing, a somewhat large music library, emailing, basic tasks, without it feeling overwhelmed if he does all of this at once. He's no gamer or video editor or anything similar to that) and comfort (big enough screen and keyboard in a still portable package) were tied at # 2. He doesn't need an excessive amount of power, or 20 devices all connected at once thru USB ports. And as he put it, in the 2 years he's had his sony laptop, he's only used the cd-rom a couple times, so using "remote-disc" or an external drive would not be a deal breaker for him.

After pricing different, similar laptops with similar specs, I was a little surprised to find that the Macbook Air turned out to be sometimes of equal price, and sometimes a better value than some. It was the compromise (they all have some sort of compromise) of power and portability that I found best fits his needs.

While the speed of the processor of top of the line Macbook Air is of "only" 1.86Ghz (tho it's faster than those offered by comparable hp's, dell, lenovo and some of the sonys I looked at), some users are claiming that their Macbook Air's with the 128GB ssd actually feels "speedier" than their Macbooks or Macbooks Pro.
I found an article that proves them right. pcadvisor.co.uk ran some benchmarks on the Air and found that on certain (basic and common) tasks, the Air was faster than the Macbook and Macbook Pro (Ex. boot up time is quicker, opening Photoshop was twice as fast on Air than on Pro). Now this doesn't mean Air is a faster machine than Macbook or Macbook Pro overall, as the Air would certainly take way more time to do other tasks (video editing, etc), but it gives an idea of how usable the machine can be.

Here's a link to it : http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/index.cfm?reviewid=107770&pn=3

When I saw today that the Rev B refurbs became available, I bought one for him right away. The $2,149 price is very competitive, and when compared to what some of the competition has to offer, it even becomes a great deal. The Air suddenly became all that more attractive.

No lines on my refurb MBA RevB... This machine is so much better than the original I had! I still can't believe how much of a difference they are. I highly recommend the RevB over the original. Two completely different machines!:D

I was just about to post that the rev. b mba's are now on the refurbish site.

I have a feeling most of those rev. b models were returned due to the line issues.

PLEASE, for the love of God, SPREAD THE WORD. Tell all about the huge differences in every way from speed, to power, to heat, VALUE, and etc.
