Simple steps for reversing order
I found this to be the simplest method to put the podcasts in the order I wanted them, which was oldest at the top, newest at the bottom (though you can put them in any order you want to).
1. In iTunes, select Podcasts under your Library.
2. When the Podcasts open, click on the 'Release Date' column. It will toggle back and forth placing your podcast in order either from oldest to newest, or newest to oldest. If the little triangle arrow is pointing up, they are in order oldest to newest, which you can verify simply by looking at the dates. If there is no release date column you can use the right button on the mouse to add it.
3. Create a New Playlist in your iPod. You can name it anything, but an easy option is to simply name it the same name as your Podcast name.
4. Go back to your iTunes Podcast list (verify they are still in the order you want them), and use the mouse to block select all the podcasts you want to put in the playlist. Drag and drop them into your iPod playlist. This does not copy the Podcasts again, it simply places pointers in your playlist, so you are not using up additional memory by having this new playlist.
5. Viola. I did this after trying all the hard methods, and it worked flawlessly. My Podcasts can now be listened to in the First In / First Out order.
Hope this helps.
