Is there a way to simply download Catalina 10.15 and not 10.15.1?
I suspect not. But why would you want to do that?

A more general question: why did you upgrade in the first place? It is well known that for a new version of the Mac OS, it takes at least 2 releases to work out just about all of the major bugs, and a good amount of the minor ones. Also, there is always the issue of Third Party software compatibility.

Actually I haven’t upgraded yet. Even if I do at some point, I’ll probably choose to create a separate boot volume for Catalina. The only reason I’m tempted to update is because I would really enjoy having Apple TV+ on my Mac.

Would you create that separate boot volume on an external device? That is what I have been doing, for testing Catalina. I have a Samsung 860 EVO 500 gig installed inside a nice, slim Orico enclosure, and I have been using it for testing Catalina, both V10.15.0, and now V10.15.1.

If you now get V10.15.1, why would you want to revert back to V10.15.0? Are there issues with Apple TV+ and OS 10.15.1? If so, maybe wait until V10.15.2 comes out, which will most likely be sometime in the latter part of November/earlier part of December.

Yeah. I’ve heard of issues with other parts of features of Catalina so that makes me hesitant regardless.

I typically install it on the same drive but just create a separate boot volume. I may wait for v.2 but that’ll be hard to wait so long.

Yeah, there are issues with "parts" of Catalina, even with the .1 update. In my testing, none of them affect me, as all my third party applications (except for SuperDuper! and TechTool Pro, which have not yet released Catalina-compatible upgrades (should be real soon for SuperDuper!)) work flawlessly with OS 10.15.1.

I would wait for V10.15.2, if I were you. As it as (and I've mentioned before), I suspect I'll be "moving" to Catalina between V10.15.2 and V10.15.3, as that is when a compatible version of TechTool Pro will (most likely) be released.

After too many app crashes and kernel panics with Catalina, I went back to Mojave today. Still restoring everything, but at least it looks like I have a stable machine again. Catalina is nice to visit, but not a place I want to live.

I can seriously recommend Carbon Copy Cloner. I take nightly clones of my boot drive, but before installing Catalina I ran a quick clone to be up to date. Installed Catalina and had issues. Booted to clone, deleted drive and cloned back. I was back on Mojave in a few hours (mainly because clone is spinning hdd).
