It has a key, which is a literally a "security hole". No thanks.

I'll stick with my Yale Assure that has been rock solid for over 4 years now. If they every come up with a HomeKey model I might consider, but 90% of the time we use Siri/HomeKit automations to unlock before we even leave the car so we barely need to unlock at the door itself. HomeKey would simply be an extra convenience, not a primary way of getting in.

It is amazing how many "smart" locks can be bypassed with a simple magnet. Faster even than using the phone or the watch and no need to configure anything.

Oh no, the horror.
How about another one:

Smart home device maker collects your data in real time, while hackers are unknowingly siphon the data in real time from said maker's network. Your data on when you open/close doors, your smart AI cloud video cameras, your refrigerator's camera and mic, etc. Or not even hackers. Sometimes employees can easily spy on their ex-lovers, enemies, etc.

You trust your data to not get sold and not get hacked? Haha. Most of these companies, especially smaller ones, have no priority on security.

Anyway, I work in Silicon Valley tech and the vast majority of my colleagues will never install smart home devices for themselves.

View attachment 2237795Just FYI, it does NOT require aqara’s compatible hub products for homekit integration. As long as you have any apple home hub at home (Homepods or AppleTV) it will work with Apple’s Home and HomeKey. Hub is required for other connected home services. The best part is perhaps ease of installation, it doesn’t need to be installed using included hardware, but also works with already installed mechanisms (which I needed to reuse since I didn’t want to use power tools to modify the setup)
How good is the battery life?
