FWIW, I don't like cases either. I have very high standards. But got to say... just bought the Spigen slim armor S case. It's not bad. Nicest looking and best quality case I've seen yet. Slim design. Good build quality. Don't know how long it will last but maybe buy it and try it. I have a feeling it's about as good as a case can get.

Simple solution. Don't use a case.

As you say, it's a 'high end luxury phone made of solid aluminum and high quality glass'. Use it as is then. It's just a thousand bucks after all.

Ok, so if the iPhone isn't "high end" what normal phone do you consider to be above it in the market?

I think you're too used to seeing the phone to realize that it's supposed to be one of the nicer devices out there.

Hey could you post some photos of the apple case when its cut out as a bumper please??
I would love to see how it looks.
Thank you very much.

Funny, when I bought a case I must've looked at a hundred or so designs online. It was pretty obvious to me that 90% wouldn't suit my taste or needs, so had no chance of me purchasing them to try out. Why on earth would you buy every case? Especially on the premise that they all suck?

I don't understand. For the cost of 250 of the common name brand cases, we're talking about an average of probably $35 a case x 250 = $8,750 spent on iPhone 5 cases. In other words, you could have replaced, IN WHOLE, your iPhone 5S TEN TIMES. Why are you bothering with a case? considering dropping and shattering your phone will at most cost you $269 rather than the whole phone...so unless you are exploding your phone or just demolishing it, you could have replaced your phone THIRTY-TWO times.

I just bought this low profile Kevlar / Carbon snap case from the apple store. Is is very strong (DuPont Kevlar ) and it is excellent. Costs $40 and well worth the money for a thin, naked feeling case for the phone. Here is a link to Evutec site

I got the gray snap case..

Totally agree with OP. Finally glad someone agrees with me instead of people taking offense to my disliking of cases. I would *love* to have an elegant solution for protecting my iphone. Most cases are large and bulky, and those that aren't -- I don't trust any protection they may provide.

As such, I choose not to use a case. The reason I'm beginning to favor Apple products is because they *are* elegant.

So far I'm pretty happy with just using Ghost Armor for scratch/blemish protection, and if I had enough money sitting around, buying an insurance package would be an elegant solution.

Good for you. Did you always feel this way or did you arrive at that opinion that after purchasing and trying 250+ cases?

A lot of folks don't like using a case for their iPhone and understand it's a matter of personal taste. That's not unusual. Nobody slammed the OP just for not liking cases.

I think the OP attracted scrutiny when he claimed to have a background in product design and criticized other folks for using cases.

I actually do have some background in product design and this guy does not talk or think like any educated designer I know. And, yes, I do own several cases including some whimsical, impractical ones.

So this is your first post, right? OK. ;)
