I really enjoy building computers. Whenever I do, they always last. Unfortunately, I always get carried away and build something huge, loud and heat producing haha. Then I figure, if I'm going to try to build something small why not just got with a mac at that point... and the circle continues on.

ME was terrible. Gross....disgusting. I've had my computer just spontaneously lose all my information on it (not once, not twice, not three, but over five times). Though I will shamefully admit I did not have an antivirus. :( (I was like, 12...13? )

ME was an absolute nightmare, and easily the worst OS I've ever dealt with. By comparison, 2000 was an absolute miracle.

I have used computers that work.. just not very many Apple ones that do. And kernel panics, bad logic boards and dead screens are good reasons to exhange computers... which I all experienced. Get your facts straight before making rude comments.

EDIT: oh and the hard drive DID die on my day old D620... so, NO I'm not happy with it!

You need to sacrifice more virgins to the computer gods...

Another interesting development. When I unplug the laptop I get the classic whine just like the macbook... only louder! The core duo does appear to be the bad player in this annoying sound after all.

Don't some of the tricks for getting rid of the whine involve forcing the processor to stay yoked up to the highest performance level? That's what I seem to remember, that oddly, the mooing is worse when the processor is running at low power? This story seems consistent with that -- that the power management in this system is keeping it from becoming an issue until you unplug and it goes to reduced power mode....
