I also had the original SE! I got it in 2020 and recently the screen popped off, the battery health was also at 77%. I bought the series 10 in jet black and now that’s it’s been two weeks I think it’s a good buy for me, I wanted to try the ECG and the bigger screen out but if those two aren’t necessary I’d definitely go for the Second gen SE, that was one of my choices too.My OG SE battery has started to act weird. Some days it lasts all day (6a - 9p) and some days it's dead at noon. I have no notifications on and I rarely use it for anything but Fitness tracking - not Olympic level training either. I don't do sleep tracking. I like the mindfulness app to force me to take breaks throughout the day, too. Otherwise, it's just an extension of my phone for quick weather or time tracking.
I'm really tempted by the 10, and I know it would be a huge upgrade, but I think even the 2nd gen SE would be a good (and cheaper) upgrade for me.
Was anyone in my boat and made either choice?
My watch got the same battery life hit with os 11. I made the recommended change, and its only been a day, but it doesn't look like it helped my watch unfortunately.Hope this fixes it for me thanks!
Battery life took a 25% hit with Watch os 11!
How do you like the AOD? It seems to me like it would drain the battery, but surely you’re getting better battery life than your OG SE…I also had the original SE! AOD is great. I'm sure there's some measurable impact on battery, but it's well worth the trade off IMO. If you've got an SE, I'm sure you know the occasional double or triple take you need to do with your wrist to get it to wake sometimes? Very nice to be able to glance at it at any time or situation and see the watchface. How do you like the AOD? Quite - Blood Oxygen Watch app works fine on my UK model. The hardware is still there, so I have hope that it will be re-enabled after the legal disupte is dead.
