from turning on the computer to everything loaded: 22 secs
to restart. 29-33 secs.
time to shut down the computer: 7-10 secs roughly

reason? I don't start a lot of programs automatically.
I have all the updates such as 10.4.10 and the audio fix.

My MacBook 2.16 boots noticeably faster than this MacBook Pro 2.4 (by about 4-5 seconds)

After using font explorer and cleaning the system fonts folder, my start up time has been cut-down to 44 seconds about....

I'm just gonna reformat tonight.. Just finished backing everything up..

You sure can claim that there was no speed difference, but I know my boot up times and I'm saying it was faster. I'm not saying it was the method of booting that sped it up, all I'm saying is it was about twice as fast as the previous times I had booted. I found it interesting.
