Amazon owns a 17% stake in Rivian and Rivian still sells electric delivery vans to Amazon.

The only change was that contractually, Rivian was not allowed to sell electric vans to anybody but Amazon until recently -- that was part of the deal for Amazon's investment (temporary exclusivity). But Amazon is still buying Rivian electric vans -- they are just no longer Rivian's only customer for electric delivery vans.
I'm well aware of this.

Amazon is taking 10k/year which doesn't seem to jive with their original 100k by 2030 target.

amazon taking delivery of 10k/year is slowing down.
Objection. Your honor, this claim was not admitted into evidence.

Sustained. truthsteve, you must offer evidence or you can’t make the assertion.

Simple math: you can do 4 years at 10 and 4 years at 15 and it adds up to 100. You don’t know that wasn’t the case you just assert it was the case that 10 is less than planned. You don’t know what was planned, because it turns out numbers in the future can be changed. Are you the head of Amazon’s electric vans?

Amazon boasted in October that it had 10,000 Rivian-built vans on roads, meeting a 2023 sales threshold set by the companies. That may sound like a whole lot of vans, and it is, but the retail giant’s 10,000 van orders were reportedly “on the low end of a range Amazon had communicated earlier to the auto maker,” The Wall Street Journal wrote in March. Hence, the talks to call the exclusivity agreement early.

Amazon doesn't want to buy that many from Rivian and Rivian wants to sell others to boost sales. Now that Rivian can sell to others, Amazon doesn't have to buy that many in the short term, slowing down their purchases while Rivian can fulfill orders outside of Amazon.

I rest my case lol. I'm moving on.

So as you say, Amazon gave a range. So no slowdown just in that alone. If I said I’ll buy between 5 and 10 apples at the store, if I buy 6, it doesn’t mean I bought less than I planned. I didn’t plan to buy 10, 9, 8, or 7, I said between 5 and 10. Simple stuff here.

Apple, you know what would be even better? My iPhone automatically flushing my toilet when I'm done.

Yeah yeah sure, I'm the only iPhone owner in the world that takes their iPhone into the WC.

I'm old enough to remember when there was a stack of magazines in the LOO for when you did your dirty business.

Honestly, I don't take a smash without my phone. It should be shaped like a poo emoji by now.

FSD. It's gotten so good over the last year. Also I'm a big fan of the app and the summon feature. But I could give those up for an OS that I'm already familiar with. Seeing some demo's of the new Rivian interface, it actually looks really cool.
I can see FSD being a unique point but I think that other brands will probably all get something like summon and have fairly decent apps (particularly Rivian).

I used to bag on Rivian (current tesla driver), but honestly their stuff is looking sweet. Particularly excited for the R2. Switching from a tesla would be hard, but if the rumors are true about Apple and Rivian teaming up, I'd switch in a heartbeat.

I switched. Wasn’t hard at all 😉

Rivian has AWFUL keys right now, so I am not surprised one bit that they are trying to do some damage control and offer alternative solutions to their key system.

Source: Current Rivian and Tesla owner, my R1T is constantly not unlocking upon walkup or locking upon walking away

Mine unlocks every single time. I wonder if they’ve somehow changed the hardware bc I’ve heard others say this.

Regardless the UWB/wallet support should be great.

Nothing indicates they're about to go bankrupt.

... Rivian is once again priced for bankruptcy. Unfortunately, that's exactly where Rivian may be headed in the next year or two if management fails to raise additional capital for the EV maker.
