My biggest gripe with Rock Band is that its gonna cost an arm, leg and your first born. It comes loaded with 40-60 songs right? Then all the downloadable albums and such. They can't be cheap especially since they have to split the money between the dev, MS/Sony, the artist, label, etc. I would be very surprised if they were iTunes pricing of like $10 an album but even if they are, I have dozens and dozens of albums I would like to play but I sure as hell won't dish out more money to buy them for one game that will be replaced by Big Band or Jazz Band in a few years (unless they let you transfer Rock Band songs over the Rock Band 2 or whatever)

I'm gonna have to go with RB until someone makes a freaking music based game that has all genre..

I wonder if sing star has all genre......they could bring out a DJ set and mic for a hiphop based music game.

Bless

Karaoke Revolution and Sing Star do cover all genres, but they're all singing games.

I could go for some music games that cover more genres myself. And there are other musical genres that use guitars and drums, so I don't see why Rock Band has to stay rock music (besides the name of course ;) )

If you want to try a DJ game, there is Beatmania on the PS2 and in arcades. I think it's all electronic music though.

IGN has just posted a preview of Guitar Hero III! They say that there are multiple reasons the Wii version uses the Wii Remote. For one, the sound of mess ups (guitar squeaks) come out of the Wii Remote speakers. Secondly, it takes advantage of the Accelorometer. Third, it will be the only GH III version to sport rumble in the guitar! Looks like GHIII is going to be awesome.

I'm hoping the albums are $10 and I'll buy a few ('Nevermind' for sure, hopefully they also have Pearl Jam's 'Ten' because then my life would be complete). IMO at $10 it's a deal because you're getting the music plus the note charts for 4 instruments (if you include the mic).

If you went hog wild and bought anything and everything they release as DLC, sure it'll be expensive. But it's still a better deal than the GH2 DLC (roughly $2.30 per song? ridiculous) and who knows if that's how much the GH3 DLC will be, but I'd think it would be similarly priced to the GH2 content.
